Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about 21st Appartement? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Unterbilk, and honestly, I almost walked past it because it blends right into the neighborhood – which is actually part of its charm. The building itself feels more like where locals live than a typical hotel, and after staying there, I get why it scores an 8.4 with guests.

Unterbilk isn’t where most tourists end up, but that’s exactly why I loved it here. You’re about a 15-minute walk to the Rhine promenade, and there’s this great little bakery just around the corner on Bilker Allee where the locals grab their morning coffee – I mean, proper German bread and pastries, not tourist stuff. The apartments themselves are… well, they’re apartments. Proper ones with actual kitchens where you can cook if you want to save some euros, which honestly comes in handy in Düsseldorf since eating out can get pricey fast. Mine had this decent-sized living area with windows facing the courtyard, so it stayed pretty quiet even though you’re still in the city. The Wi-Fi worked fine for video calls (I had to work a few mornings), and the shower had proper water pressure – sometimes these converted buildings don’t, but this one does.

What I really appreciated was how the whole setup just… worked without any fuss. Check-in was straightforward, parking isn’t impossible to find on the street if you need it, and you’ve got a decent Rewe supermarket about five minutes away if you want to stock the fridge. The tram stop at Bilk S is close enough that getting into the Altstadt or over to Königsallee takes maybe 20 minutes, but you’re staying somewhere that feels authentically Düsseldorf rather than generic hotel-land. I’d definitely come back – it’s the kind of place where you can actually settle in for a few days and feel like you’re living in the city instead of just passing through it.

  Very comfortable apartment, perfect for a short stay in the city. It had everything what we needed. The location was excellent, well connected by public transport, but still possible to walk to the city centre. It was very kind of the owner to offer his bike to use(we didn't do that in the end).
  
  What could be improved: The place needs a bit more cleaning. There was dust everywhere, pieces of food (snacks) on the carpet.

  Lovely little appartement at an quite location. Big TV, nice dekoration, coffee machine and a nice lite kitchen (no oven).

  Stayed a week in Dec for Christmas markets. Very central … only a short walk to the centre. Markets great with lots of beautiful huts selling everything you need for Christmas and lots of food and drink. Apartment easy to find and keys collected without any trouble. Apartment clean and had everything we needed. Kitchen well fitted out.
  
  What could be improved: Sofa bed OK for first couple of days but got a bit uncomfortable towards the end of the week. Glad to get back to my own bed. Note … if you are in Dusseldorf over weekend in Dec good idea to book restaurants Fri-Sun.for dinner in evening. Busy city.
