You know what struck me first about Apart2Stay? It’s tucked away on this quiet side street in Oberbilk – honestly, I almost walked right past it because the entrance is pretty understated. But that’s actually a good thing, because once you’re inside, you realize you’ve found something solid without all the tourist trap nonsense.

The aparthotel concept really works here. I mean, you get proper apartment-style spaces with kitchenettes that are actually functional (not those sad mini-fridges with a hot plate some places try to pass off). The rooms feel lived-in rather than sterile – there’s this comfortable, slightly worn-in quality that makes you settle in immediately. What I loved was having space to spread out my stuff without feeling like I’m camping in a shoebox. The beds are decent too, though the pillows run a bit soft if you’re used to firmer support. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no endless upselling or complicated key card systems that never work.

Location-wise, Oberbilk gets overlooked by most visitors, but it’s actually perfect if you want to experience Düsseldorf like locals do rather than bouncing between the Altstadt beer halls with everyone else. You’re maybe a 15-minute tram ride from the old town, but honestly, some of the best restaurants are right in this neighborhood. There’s this Turkish place around the corner that does incredible döner, and the bakery two blocks down makes proper German bread that’ll ruin you for grocery store stuff forever. The S-Bahn connection is solid too – I could get to the airport in about 20 minutes without any transfers. Parking was surprisingly manageable for a German city, though you’ll want to ask about the neighborhood permits if you’re driving. The area gets pretty quiet after 9 PM, which was perfect for actually sleeping, but it might feel too residential if you’re looking for nightlife within stumbling distance. That 8.4 rating makes sense – it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything works the way it should, the price is fair, and you leave feeling like you got exactly what you paid for without any unpleasant surprises.

  What could be improved: The pictures are not of the apartment we stayed, ours was much worse, especially the bathroom. This is misleading. Also they do not provide parking, it says free parking but that's on the street not provided by the host, and was all full when we arrived so that is not something provided by this apartment which is also misleading.

  Die Zimmer waren alles sehr geräumig und sauber. Jeder hatte seinen persönlichen Bereich. Auch die Küche war gut ausgestattet und war für unsere Anforderungen vollkommen ausreichend. Wenn etwas fehlte, wir waren 12 Nächte vor Ort, wurde es sofort zur Verfügung gestellt. Die Anbindung an den öffentlichen Nahverkehr ist sehr gut, zwei Stationen in die Innenstadt, direkte Verbindung zur Messe. Mehr konnten wir nicht erwarten.
  
  What could be improved: Es ist nur ein WC vorhanden, dem muss man sich bewusst sein. Allerdings haben wir uns gut organisiert und hatten somit keinen Stress.

  Das Apartment war groß und geräumig. Man konnte sich jederzeit in irgendeinen Raum zurückziehen und seine Privatsphäre haben.

  Sehr netter Empfang. Unkomplizierte Kommunikation und Schlüssel Übergabe mit dem Vermieter. Lage war optimal. Die Betten waren Mega! Wenn wir wieder mal nach Düsseldorf fahren werden wir uns dort wieder melden.
  
  What could be improved: Dar Belag auf dem Balkon war nicht so toll. An stelle von Teppich (sah recht verwittert aus) vielleicht gegen pflegeleichten PVC oder Laminat austauschen.
