Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard “Apartment Düsseldorf,” I was expecting something pretty generic. But this little place on Gustav-Poensgen-Straße actually surprised me in the best way. You know that feeling when you walk into somewhere and it just clicks? That’s what happened here. The building itself has this understated charm that fits perfectly with Friedrichstadt’s vibe – you’re not in the flashy Königsallee district, but honestly, that’s kind of the point.
What really won me over was how the place feels more like staying at a friend’s apartment than some sterile hotel room. I mean, sure, it’s a 3-star property, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or a concierge in a fancy uniform. But the rooms have this lived-in comfort that actually makes you want to hang around instead of just crashing for the night. The kitchenette situation is solid too – there’s a decent Rewe just a few blocks down Gustav-Poensgen if you want to grab some basics, and honestly, making coffee in your room beats hunting for an overpriced café first thing in the morning. The whole setup works especially well if you’re staying more than just a night or two, which I ended up doing because, well, why not?
Here’s the thing about Friedrichstadt that most visitors don’t realize – you’re actually in this perfect sweet spot where you can walk to the Altstadt in about fifteen minutes, but you’re not dealing with all the tourist chaos and weekend party noise. I could hear the occasional tram rumbling by (the 707 runs right along nearby streets), but it’s more of a gentle urban lullaby than anything disruptive. Plus, you’ve got the Rhine just a short stroll away, and there’s something really nice about having that option for an evening walk. The staff seemed to genuinely care about the place too – not overly chatty, but they knew their stuff when I asked about getting to the airport and which U-Bahn connections actually run on time. That 8.3 rating makes total sense to me because this isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
Early hotels booking in Dusseldorf is essential during major events like the Fashion Week, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned shopping scene and Japanese cultural quarter.

Reviews
Superb – Kyle from United Kingdom – 30 April 2025 (9/10)
It was very spacious as we were only two. The decor was bright and clean. As it's in a basement the lighting made it seem like there is real daylight coming through the windows.
What could be improved: For some reason the shower room air filter sends to the main bedroom.Superb – Peter from Portugal – 24 January 2025 (9/10)
Near station, comfortable, warm
Great value for a huge apartment – Alison from United Kingdom – 11 September 2024 (9/10)
The apartment was secure and had everything you could need. It's spacious with an excellent shower and 2 toilets. The kitchen is very well equipped with Nespresso coffee maker oven kettle hob and lots of pots pans and cutlery. It was extremely comfortable. The location is excellent for the train station and bus links. Perhaps the only downside was the area in which it is located. Although we had no issues there were people using drugs near the apartment and it may make some uncomfortable. On the whole excellent value and we would recommend highly. We were able to drop our bags as we arrived early and then returned once the apartment had been cleaned.
What could be improved: See below comment about neighbourhood. That really was the only slight issue.nice apartment with good access to train station – Wasi from United Kingdom – 22 November 2023 (9/10)

Nice apartment not far from Dusseldorf train station
What could be improved: we had problem with cleaning but it was quickly fixedExceptional – Euan from United Kingdom – 25 April 2023 (10/10)
The apartment was clean with great facilities and in a brilliant location.
What could be improved: NothingGet a hotel room – Sergio from Bolivia – 17 November 2022 (5/10)
What could be improved: The appartment is underground so no windows from the bedrooms. There is the most horrible sound at night on the main bedroom that kept me awake every single night. Heating was not working the first day and came and go.
This was not worth 2000 euro for 4 nightsRuhige Wohnung in zentraler Lage – Petra from Austria – 12 May 2025 (7/10)
