So I stumbled across Apartment Tanne last spring when I needed somewhere to crash in Düsseldorf that wasn’t going to break the bank – honestly, the 9.4 rating caught my eye first because, let’s be real, you don’t see numbers like that very often for a 3-star place. The location on Meisenweg in Unterrath initially had me scratching my head since it’s not exactly the tourist quarter, but you know what? That turned out to be exactly why I ended up loving it.

The apartment itself feels like staying at your well-organized German friend’s place – everything’s spotless, practical, and thought out in that distinctly Germanic way where there’s actually a proper place for your stuff. I mean, the kitchen drawers have those neat dividers, and there’s this little bench by the entrance that’s perfect for wrestling with your shoes after walking around the city all day. What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night – Unterrath isn’t some sleepy suburb, but Meisenweg is tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with trams rattling by at 6 AM or drunk tourists stumbling home. The bed was surprisingly comfortable too, which matters more than people admit when they’re writing reviews.

Getting around from here is actually pretty brilliant once you figure out the system. There’s a U-Bahn stop about a ten-minute walk away that’ll get you into the city center in maybe 15 minutes, and honestly, I started looking forward to that little walk through the neighborhood – lots of those typical Düsseldorf residential streets with the neat gardens and the occasional bakery that locals actually use. The owner (I think her name was Petra?) left this handwritten note with recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps – she pointed me toward this Turkish place around the corner that does incredible döner, and mentioned which grocery store stays open late. Those kinds of details matter when you’re trying to live like a normal person instead of eating hotel breakfast for a week straight. Parking was never an issue either, which is saying something for a city like Düsseldorf. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to experience the city without paying those central district prices or dealing with the chaos around the Altstadt every single day.

  Schreibtisch, das WLAN, der Wasser-/Kaffeekocher, viel Platz am Boden (ich konnte Prospektmaterial für Messe zwischenlagern ohne mich durchquetschen zu müssen), kein Schnickschnack, schnell wirkender Lüfter im Badezimmer auch nach heißer Dusche
  
  What could be improved: Die Parkplätze an der Straße sind kostenlos nutzbar aber wegen der Flughafennähe von 8-18:00 Uhr nur mit Parkscheibe 2 Stunden – es wäre schön, diese Info deutlicher darzustellen.
  Es gibt als Sitzgelegenheit nur das Bett, 1 Schreibtischstuhl und eine kleine Bank. Irgendwie ein zweiter Stuhl, zumindest wenn man zu zweit ist.
  Souterrain-Atmosphäre (bei Zweckaufenthalten egal)
  Dass kein Fernseher da ist, hat mich nicht gestört (ich habe mit dem guten WLAN Livestream gemacht), aber vielleicht mag das nicht jeder.
