You know what caught me off guard about this place? The name makes it sound like some party crashpad, but honestly, it’s way more sophisticated than that. Sure, Bachelor I ette I XXL Altstadt Loft is probably the worst hotel name I’ve ever seen (seriously, what were they thinking with all those capital I’s?), but once you get past that – and find the actual entrance, which is tucked back in this quiet courtyard on Fischerstraße – you’ll realize you’ve stumbled onto something pretty special.

The loft itself is massive, and I mean actually spacious, not that “European spacious” where you can barely open your suitcase. We’re talking about a genuine industrial-style space with high ceilings and these huge windows that flood the place with light during the day. The Pempelfort location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Düsseldorf rather than just visiting it – you’re close enough to walk to the Altstadt (takes about 12 minutes, maybe 15 if you stop at that little bakery on Berliner Allee), but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the weekend crowds stumbling around at 2 AM. I actually loved walking back from dinner along the Rhine; there’s something nice about having that buffer zone between you and all the tourist chaos.

What really impressed me was how quiet it stays, even though you’re still pretty central. Being set back in that courtyard makes a huge difference – I’m someone who usually travels with earplugs because city hotels can be brutal, but I didn’t need them here. The space has this lived-in feel that I really appreciated; it’s not trying too hard to be Instagram-perfect, but everything works well and feels thoughtfully put together. The kitchen setup is actually functional (rare for a rental), and there’s enough room to spread out if you’re traveling with friends or planning to stay for more than just a quick weekend. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this area – I’d honestly recommend just using public transport since you’re well-connected to the rest of the city anyway. The 9-star rating makes sense once you spend a night here; it’s one of those places that delivers more than you expect, especially given that it’s technically just a 3-star spot. Sometimes the best finds are the ones with terrible names and great execution.
