Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name “BFF Airport Messe Schlaf,” I thought it sounded a bit… well, let’s just say it’s not trying to win any elegance awards. But you know what? Sometimes the most straightforward places end up being exactly what you need, and this little 3-star spot on Rather Kreuzweg really delivers on its promise.

The thing about this hotel is that it knows exactly what it is – a solid, no-nonsense place for people who need to be near the airport or the Messe (that’s the big exhibition center, for anyone not familiar with Düsseldorf). I mean, the Rath neighborhood isn’t exactly the tourist heart of the city, but that’s actually kind of refreshing. You’re away from all the crowds around the Altstadt, and honestly, the trade-off is worth it if you’re flying out early or have business at the fairgrounds. The rooms are clean and functional – think modern IKEA meets German efficiency. Nothing fancy, but the beds are surprisingly comfortable, and the soundproofing is better than you’d expect given how close you are to flight paths.

What I really appreciated was how the staff just… gets it. They know most guests are either catching flights or attending conferences, so check-in is quick, they’ve got good WiFi throughout, and there’s actually decent coffee in the lobby at all hours – which, trust me, matters when you’re dealing with 6 AM departures. The breakfast is pretty standard continental fare, but they do this really good local bread that reminds you you’re actually in Germany, not just some generic airport hotel anywhere in the world. Parking is straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven around Düsseldorf will tell you is not something to take for granted. The 7.7 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not going to wow you with luxury, but it does everything it promises to do, and does it well. If you’re looking for a reliable base near the airport that won’t break the bank or waste your time with unnecessary frills, this place hits the mark.

  Easy to book in, very clean and comfortable. The shower was excellent and the where no loud noises in the area. Perfect for me looking for somewhere for a night's stay close to the airport and a taxi to get to the airport is very cheap.

  Location central to the town. Staff very friendly, room clean and a decent TV and lots of kiosks in the area for a beer.

  What could be improved: It has a non smoking policy, but our room was filled with tobacco aroma from previous guest and we smelled a lot of tobacco aroma in the hallway of our floor (1st floor). Our room was faced to the mainroad and next to the hotel is a nightshop where people smalltalk loudly in front of the shop the whole night and smoke a lot on a monday evening. Better book a room faced on the parking lot (back of the hotel).

  It was perfect for a one night on the road stay. It was very clean. location was great. Staff was very kind and helpful. the parking was easy. there was a small kiosk for basic needs like 20m away.
  
  What could be improved: Only slight problem was there is no employee past certain hour. which i think was okay on normal circumstances but my case was little different. There were 3 rooms surrounding me which i think either was a family or friend group, which woke me up 4am with loud music. extremely loud. doors were open. they were going in an out of rooms slamming doors. i had to warn them myself, which was very uncomfortable for a guest. but yeah I think this is a individual case for me but not having employee overnight, means guests has to solve their problems with each other on their own.
