Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked past BLK Hostel on Immermannstr, I almost missed it completely. It’s tucked into this somewhat industrial stretch near Düsseldorf’s main train station, and from the outside, you’d never guess what’s waiting inside. But that’s sort of the point with this place, actually.
The moment you step through those doors, it hits you – this isn’t your typical backpacker crash pad or sterile business hotel. The owners have taken what could’ve been just another budget accommodation and turned it into something genuinely cool. I mean, the design alone made me pull out my phone to snap photos, which honestly isn’t something I usually do in hotel lobbies. There’s this industrial-chic thing going on with exposed concrete and metal fixtures, but they’ve warmed it up with these unexpected pops of color and art pieces that actually look like someone curated them, not just grabbed whatever was on sale at IKEA. The common areas have this lived-in feel – leather couches that are perfectly worn, communal tables where you’ll find a mix of digital nomads tapping away on laptops and backpackers planning their Rhine Valley adventures.
What really won me over, though, was how the staff treated the place. You know how some boutique spots try so hard to be hip that they forget to be helpful? Not here. The front desk crew knows their neighborhood inside and out – they’ll point you toward Flingern Nord if you want the local nightlife scene, or tell you exactly which U-Bahn entrance gets you to the Altstadt fastest without having to navigate those confusing underground passages. And speaking of location, yeah, you’re not in the prettiest part of Düsseldorf, but you’re maybe a ten-minute walk from all the main action, and honestly? The grittier vibe around Immermannstr has its own character. Plus, being this close to the Hauptbahnhof means you can literally roll out of bed and catch early trains to Cologne or Amsterdam – I’ve done it, and it’s pretty convenient.
The rooms themselves are clean and thoughtfully designed, though don’t expect luxury linens or marble bathrooms. It’s more about smart use of space and those little touches that show someone was actually thinking about what travelers need. The WiFi works everywhere (tested it thoroughly), the showers have proper water pressure, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable for what you’re paying. I will say the street can get a bit noisy on weekend nights – nothing earplugs can’t handle, but light sleepers should maybe request a room facing the courtyard if they have one. Overall though, BLK Hostel nails this sweet spot between affordable and stylish that’s honestly pretty rare. If you’re looking for somewhere with personality that won’t drain your travel budget, this place gets it right.
Dusseldorf hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic Altstadt district to elegant luxury hotels and modern accommodations along the prestigious Königsallee shopping street.

Superb – Sutisa from Thailand – 27 May 2025 (9/10)
Great place and located in a good location.
Basic but worth its preis – Anna from Germany – 4 May 2025 (9/10)
Good for introverted guests: you doesn't need to contact anyone when checking-in and during the stay. With online self check-in we were able to arrive late in the evening.
Coffee machine with a couple of capsules and a mini teapot in the double room were really useful. Even a super small fridge (a bit noisy, but we turned it off when slept)! The room design and furniture were very basic but nice and functional. Mattresses were fine. We had a window to the yard/roof and it was quiet outside. There is an elevator to reach higher floors.
We traveled with bicycles, and we were able to leave them inside the building, but there was really little space for them next to the entrance.
What could be improved: – Not pleasant smell in the room
– We couldn't get hot water from one of the two showers, fortunately there were not many guests who needed the bathrooms
– The pillows a bit too plump
– Online check-in is a little bit complicated, you need to fill in a form and take a photo of your ID before you get access to the hostelGreat location. Clean and comfortable. Will stay again – Emily from United Kingdom – 19 April 2025 (8/10)
Showers and toilets very modern and clean at all times. Spacious room nice and modern
