The name makes it sound way more rustic than it actually is – I was expecting some basic cabin situation, but this bungalow on Kamenzer Weg is honestly pretty charming. It’s tucked away in Vennhausen, which most people don’t realize is this quiet residential pocket of Düsseldorf that feels completely removed from the city chaos, even though you’re only about 15 minutes from the center by S-Bahn.

The covered terrace is really the star here – I mean, that’s literally in the name for a reason. It’s this generous outdoor space where you can actually sit and have your morning coffee without worrying about sudden German weather changes, which, let’s be honest, happen constantly. The whole setup feels more like staying at a friend’s weekend house than a typical hotel room. There’s this big fir tree (the “Tanne” they’re talking about) that provides natural privacy screening, so you’re not staring directly into your neighbors’ windows. The interior is clean and functional without trying too hard to be trendy – think modern German practicality with some cozy touches. Parking was surprisingly easy, which anyone who’s driven around Düsseldorf will appreciate.

What I really liked was how genuinely quiet it gets at night. Vennhausen isn’t exactly a nightlife district, so if you’re looking for bars and restaurants within walking distance, this might not be your spot. But honestly? Sometimes you want that. The nearest proper grocery store is about a 10-minute walk, and there’s a decent bakery even closer if you’re into the whole fresh German bread experience (which, I mean, why wouldn’t you be?). The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. Check-in was straightforward, the Wi-Fi actually worked well, and everything felt properly maintained. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying longer on that terrace than you planned, especially if you hit it during one of those perfect German summer evenings when the light just hangs around forever.

  Very nice and clean apartment, well equipped. We had everything we needed. The hosts are an amazing family, we felt like we came to friends. Best host we’ve ever met!
  The apartment has a separate entrance and a beautiful garden – you feel like you’re on holiday.

  The room was perfect , the host was attentive friendly and very helpful. A loveley self contained apartment in a quiet area. Thankyou so much Magdalena. If I am ever in the area again I would certainly stay there again. Public transport was easy to the apartment. It was modern , spotlessly clean and private.

  Magdalena was such a wonderful host! We arrived quite late at her property & she was so accommodating. She has a beautiful property, and the bungalow is perfect for 2 people for a getaway.
  The property is located very close to Grafenberger Wald – by car, it is 10-15mins drive. We enjoyed hikes in the forest area & the nearby lake – was perfect for a digital detox.
  
  I want to thank Magdalena & her family for the birthday card & chocolates, it was so kind of them! I would highly recommend this property & host to other travelers for their generosity. It is much easier to travel if one has their own car, else the bus-stop is just a 5min walk.

  What could be improved: Only a few restaurants in the area. But should be okay since most folks would visit altstadt and koningsallee. Buses are frequently available to go to city (724 + U75).

  Wir hatten unseren Aufenthalt sehr kurzfristig gebucht, es hat aber von Check in über die Kommunikation alles super geklappt. Sehr saubere gemütliche Ferienwohnung. Ruhige Lage und Parkplätze fast vor der Tür. Sehr nette Gastgeber! Vielen Dank, wir kommen gerne wieder!!!
