You know what struck me first about Chrisma Apartments? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street called Auf der Böck – second floor of what looks like a typical Düsseldorf building from the outside, but honestly, don’t let that fool you. I mean, half the charm of staying here is that you’re living like a local in Hamm, which is sort of this under-the-radar neighborhood that most tourists completely skip over.

The thing about Hamm is that it’s got this authentic German residential vibe without being stuffy or pretentious. You’re maybe fifteen minutes from the Altstadt if you hop on the U-Bahn, but here you’ve got actual neighborhood bakeries where the woman behind the counter remembers your order after two days, and there’s this little Turkish market around the corner that stays open late when you need something random. The apartments themselves are well… they’re proper apartments, not hotel rooms pretending to be apartments. Full kitchens that actually work (I made coffee every morning instead of paying those ridiculous café prices), decent-sized living areas where you can spread out your stuff, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable – none of that rock-hard European mattress nonsense you sometimes get.

What really won me over though was how quiet it gets at night. You’re on a residential street, so once evening hits, it’s just peaceful. No drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM like you’d get near the main tourist zones. The building itself has good sound insulation too – I could hear my upstairs neighbors occasionally but nothing that kept me awake. Parking was actually straightforward, which anyone who’s driven in German cities will appreciate. There’s street parking right there, and unlike the city center, you’re not circling blocks looking for a spot or paying through the nose for garage fees. Check-in was refreshingly normal – none of that overly formal hotel reception drama, just practical and friendly.

I’ll be honest, it’s not going to wow you with fancy lobby chandeliers or concierge services, but that’s exactly why it works. The 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there – it delivers on what it promises without trying to be something it’s not. If you want to experience Düsseldorf more like someone who actually lives there rather than bouncing between tourist traps, and you appreciate having space to breathe and a proper kitchen to use, this place gets it right. Just don’t expect room service or daily housekeeping – you’re basically renting someone’s well-maintained apartment in a genuinely nice neighborhood.

  more than enough stuff in the kitchen. And in case you forgot at home, there was shower gel, shampoo and conditioner as well as toothbrush sets and toothpaste.

  What could be improved: I wasn't a fan of the pillows. but that is of course personal. Perhaps the fly screens here and there need to be replaced or refurbished. For the rest there was nothing to complain about

  Eine sehr sehr komfortabel Wohnung mit allem was man braucht und sich vorstellen kann. Außerdem ist die Lage des Apartments extremst schön.
  
  What could be improved: Das einzige was meckern auch hohen Niveau wäre, wenn man noch zusätzlich zum Geschirrspüler einen Lappen zum abwaschen hätte. Aber die Vorhandene Küchentücher haben ihren Job ebenso gut erfüllt.

  Smaakvol ingericht, voldoende privacy en aan alles is gedacht.
  Personeel is vriendelijk.
  Locatie is heerlijk rustig met de tram ben je binnen 6 min in het bruisende binnenstad van Düsseldorf.

  sehr schön gelegenes Apartment, vom Bett aus blickt man auf den Rhein, beim Ankommen gab es ein "Willkommenspaket" mit Getränken und Nudeln, war alles Bestens! Apartment war sehr schön und gepflegt.
  Sehr freundlicher, zuvorkommender Gastgeber, der Überasschungsbesuch unserer Tochter war gar kein Problem. Vielen Dank nochmal dafür, als auch für die Osterhasen vor der Tür!

  Alles wunderbar.
  Die Wohnung ist absolut sauber und sehr stylisch. Dazu perfekt ausgestattet mit allem,was man für ein paar Tage & Nächte benötigt. Sehr gemütliches Bett und eine tolle Aussicht.
