Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw this place listed as a “cozy apartment” in Gerresheim, I wasn’t expecting much. Düsseldorf’s outer districts can be hit or miss, you know? But honestly, this little spot on Dreherstraße completely surprised me in the best way possible.

The apartment itself has that lived-in comfort that actually feels genuine – not like those sterile hotel rooms that smell like industrial cleaning products. You walk in and it’s immediately clear someone put thought into making this feel like home. The furniture isn’t fancy, but it’s the kind of solid, comfortable stuff you’d actually choose for yourself. I mean, the couch is perfect for sprawling out after a long day wandering around the Altstadt, and the kitchen (which is way more functional than I expected) has everything you need if you want to grab groceries from the Rewe down the street instead of eating out every meal. The Wi-Fi is solid too – I had video calls without any issues, which honestly can’t be said for some of the fancier places I’ve stayed.

But here’s what really makes this place work: the location is absolutely brilliant, even if it doesn’t look impressive on paper. Gerresheim might not be the sexiest neighborhood name, but you’re actually perfectly positioned. The S-Bahn connection is seriously good – you can be in the Old Town in about fifteen minutes, and getting to the Hauptbahnhof is just as easy. During Messe season (which, let’s face it, is basically half the year in Düsseldorf), you’ll appreciate being able to hop over to the trade fair grounds without dealing with the chaos of staying right in the center. Plus, and this is key – parking here is actually manageable. Try finding a decent parking spot anywhere near Königsallee and you’ll understand why this matters. The neighborhood itself has this quiet, residential vibe that I found really refreshing after days of city noise. There’s a lovely bakery just around the corner where the woman behind the counter started recognizing me after three days, and honestly, those little moments are what make a trip memorable. The only tiny downside? The building’s a bit older, so you might hear your neighbors occasionally, but nothing that kept me awake. Overall, if you want that sweet spot of being connected to everything without paying city-center prices or dealing with tourist crowds right outside your door, this place delivers exactly what it promises.

  Klein maar fijn, alles is aanwezig voor een aangenaam verblijf, ver weg van de drukke stad en toch ook verbonden dankzij vlot openbaar vervoer. De studio, achter het woonhuis, is heerlijk rustig: je hoort niets van de drukke baan. Ook handig dat je in de straat je auto gratis kan parkeren, wat in de binnenstad niet kan.
