Düsseldorfer Privatzimmer Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Düsseldorfer Privatzimmer, I’ll be honest — it’s not what you’d expect from a typical hotel. This four-star property feels more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s house, which is exactly the charm of it. Located on a quiet residential street in Gerresheim, you get that authentic neighborhood vibe that’s honestly refreshing after dealing with the usual tourist crowds in central Düsseldorf. The property offers a unique alternative to conventional lodging experiences.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Gerresheim is one of those districts that locals love but tourists often overlook — and that’s actually a good thing. You’re far enough from the city center to enjoy some peace and quiet, but the S-Bahn connections make getting downtown pretty straightforward. What I really appreciated was having free parking right on-site, which anyone who’s tried to park in Düsseldorf’s city center will tell you is worth its weight in gold. The area has that lived-in feel with local bakeries and cafes where you can grab proper German breakfast without paying tourist prices. This residential character sets it apart from typical hotel districts.
The Room Experience
The room setup here is quite different from your standard hotel — think private guest quarters rather than cookie-cutter accommodations. Everything feels thoughtfully arranged, and you get a real sense of space that’s hard to find in most city hotels. The hosts clearly put effort into making each space comfortable, and honestly, it shows in the little details. You know what struck me most? The quiet — after a day exploring the city, coming back to this peaceful residential setting was exactly what I needed. The attention to comfort is evident throughout.
Getting Around and Practical Matters
One thing that surprised me was how well-connected this spot actually is, despite feeling tucked away from everything. The location gets consistently high marks from guests, and I can see why — couples especially seem to love the balance of accessibility and tranquility. If you’re planning to explore beyond Düsseldorf (maybe day trips to Cologne or the Rhine valley), having that free parking makes everything so much easier. The hosts are genuinely helpful with local tips too, which you don’t always get at bigger properties. This combination of connectivity and seclusion is particularly valuable for extended stays.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it gives you something different — a more personal, residential experience without sacrificing comfort or convenience. The 8.3 rating reflects what I experienced: solid accommodations with that extra touch of local authenticity. It’s perfect for travelers who want to experience Düsseldorf like a temporary resident rather than just another tourist passing through. The combination of peaceful surroundings, practical amenities like parking, and genuine hospitality creates something that’s honestly hard to replicate in traditional hotels. Guests consistently appreciate the authentic, welcoming atmosphere.
Dusseldorf’s hotels pair rooftop saunas, Rhine-view lounges, and concierge-led art walks.

Location in quiet neighbourhood, close to playgrounds, decent bus connections. Good value for money.
What could be improved: The room could have been cleaner. The garden with the swimming pool was not as openly available to us as we thought. I had to specifically ask about it and the host only reluctantly told us we could use it once he was out of the house.Excellent location, friendly host – Jesie from Germany – 27 November 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: The location wasn't ideal, but the bus stop wasn't too far away. We used taxis though due to it being a short staySuperb – Samuel from France – 7 November 2023 (9/10)

Nice room in a very quiet neighbourhood. 30 minutes walk to Düsseldorf centre.
What could be improved: The room is a bit small for four people but we knew that. We just used the room to sleep.Good experience – Elisabet from Spain – 15 May 2023 (9/10)
Very good experience! The owner is very kind, he made an effort to explain the details and show me everything.
The little confusion about the room (which we first thought was another one) was of no importance 🙂
All the rooms are very well equipped, and the one I had with the big window overlooking the garden was very beautiful!
I love the garden of the house too.
What could be improved: I have no complaints. It's far from the center, but well connected by public transport.
For those who go by car, the owner can also provide it for you 🙂Lovely homely stay – Manon from Netherlands – 25 September 2022 (9/10)
Very welcoming host, thank you for giving me a tour of the house and all that went with it.
I slept really well, it felt like a second cosy home.
What could be improved: Nothing. It was just a very enjoyable experience as a whole, even though I just stayed one night and had to get up early to catch a plane.
