Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard “Flughafenapartement,” I expected some sterile airport crash pad that smells like jet fuel. But this place on Colmarer Straße actually surprised me. It’s tucked into Unterrath, which isn’t exactly Düsseldorf’s postcard neighborhood, but that’s sort of the point. You’re getting a proper apartment setup without the tourist markup, and honestly, the Sky View name isn’t just marketing fluff – you actually can spot planes coming and going from the terrace if you’re into that sort of thing.

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel room. I mean, there’s a full kitchen where you can actually cook (not just heat up instant noodles), and the living area has enough space to spread out your stuff without everything ending up on the bed. The whole setup works especially well if you’re flying out early or coming in late – you’re maybe fifteen minutes from the airport, but far enough away that you won’t hear planes thundering overhead at 6 AM. What really got me was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re still technically in the city. The street itself is pretty residential, lots of local families, so it settles down after dinner time.

You know what sealed it for me? The little details that someone clearly thought about. Like, there’s proper blackout curtains (not those flimsy hotel ones that let in every streetlight), and the shower pressure is actually decent – something you can’t take for granted in a lot of European accommodations. The kitchen’s stocked with real dishes and decent cookware, not the usual collection of mismatched plates and dull knives. If you’re coming from the Hauptbahnhof, the U-Bahn connection is straightforward once you figure out the line transfers, though I’d honestly just grab a taxi if you’ve got luggage – it’s not that expensive and saves you the hassle of dragging bags up and down station stairs. The area has a couple of solid Turkish restaurants within walking distance, and there’s a decent supermarket about five minutes away if you want to stock up on breakfast stuff. For what you pay, especially compared to anything in Altstadt or near Königsallee, it’s pretty hard to argue with the value here.

  Nice clean comfortable cozy apartment to spend a night or two if you need to be close to the airport. Watch your head though as it's a loft with low ceilings.
  
  What could be improved: Bathroom is located at a level under accessible by a steep narrow stair, same stair to enter the apartment so there is no easy access to water if you need to wash something for example and a visit to the bathroom in the middle of the night is not a pleasant job

  It was very clean, open and the best accommodation.
  
  What could be improved: There is no place to hang the shower and I have to shower while holding the shower by hand. There is no curtain in the bathroom, so the toilet gets wet.

  The location is 15 minutes walk to the airport, but very quiet at the same time.
  The owner was very nice and helpful, and there to greet me, and make sure I had everything I needed.
  Perfect for what I was looking for, and I would gladly stay again.
  
  What could be improved: The only issue was carrying my big luggage up the stairs, but that wasn't a huge issue, as everything else was perfect.
