Glück in Benrath Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Glück in Benrath, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from this four-star property tucked away on a quiet residential street. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries happen when you’re not looking for them. The building has this understated charm that grows on you — it’s not flashy, but there’s something genuinely welcoming about the whole setup. Plus, finding a spot in their free private parking area was such a relief after driving around Düsseldorf all day.
The Benrath Advantage
Here’s what I love about staying in Benrath instead of central Düsseldorf — you get this perfect balance of peace and accessibility. The neighborhood feels authentically German, with tree-lined streets and local cafes where you’ll actually hear more German than English. Benrath Palace is literally a ten-minute walk away, and honestly, exploring those baroque gardens without the usual tourist crowds was one of the highlights of my trip. The S-Bahn connection into the city center is straightforward too, so you’re not sacrificing convenience for tranquility.
The Room Experience
My room was larger than I expected — actually spacious enough that I could spread out my stuff without feeling cramped. The decor strikes this nice middle ground between modern comfort and traditional German hospitality. What really impressed me was the attention to practical details: proper blackout curtains (a godsend for someone who needs complete darkness to sleep), a desk that’s actually usable for work, and a bathroom with excellent water pressure. The soundproofing is solid too — I never heard my neighbors, which is saying something given how thin hotel walls usually are.
Dining and Daily Rhythms
The breakfast situation here is refreshingly straightforward — no fancy buffet with fifty options, but everything they do offer is quality. Fresh bread, local cheeses, and coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around for hours. I mean, it’s not going to win any awards, but it sets you up properly for the day. The restaurant area has this cozy, almost family-run feel to it, and the staff genuinely seems to care about making sure you’re comfortable rather than just going through the motions.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back to Glück in Benrath — and why couples rate the location so highly — is this sense of discovering something special that’s not on every travel blog. You’re staying somewhere that feels connected to real German life while still having all the amenities you need. The free parking alone saves you a fortune compared to city center hotels, and the staff’s local knowledge is invaluable. They’ll point you toward the best local spots without the usual tourist markup. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing Düsseldorf as it actually is, not just the postcard version.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Dusseldorf before Christmas markets wrap the promenade in lights.

What could be improved: I was not anticipating a room in a house which is what this is. I thought this was more of a hostel. Perhaps my mistake

I had the pleasure of spending a night in this private house in a beautiful quiet road off the beaten track, yet close to Benrath center. My host welcomed me very nicely, explained things, offered information and gave practical support in such a friendly manner – I immediately felt at home.
My room was just as described, fresh and bright, with access to the kitchen, and all the facilities were sparkly clean and well-looked after. I was able to park in the street.
Thank you so much for giving me an enjoyable time out!Superb – Thomas from United Kingdom – 27 June 2024 (9/10)
Nice and comfortable
A wonderful BnB with great view and cats! – Lisa from Netherlands – 22 January 2024 (8/10)
I loved the host, she was very kind and welcoming! It was clear were everything was and everything was accounted for (acces to a kitchen/fridge, coffee and tea, shower toilet etc.). The room we were in was really big, and had a beautiful view of the garden and roof terrace. It was also clean. There are also 2 cats in the house who we let into the room, they were adorable! 🥰 Laid on our bed for hours (if you don't let them in they of course won't enter the room ;))
What could be improved: Slightly annoying that the toilet is away from the room and in the hallway of the house. For the smaller 1 person room downstairs you even need to go all the way upstairs for acces to a toilet and the bath. The blankets and pillows were also really light, but that's just preference/what you're used to.Fabulous – Paul from United Kingdom – 10 October 2023 (9/10)
The owner is very hospitable and welcoming!
What could be improved: Nothing really
