Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Goldheidis on Kalkumer Straße – it’s tucked away in Unterrath, which most tourists completely skip over on their way to the flashier parts of Düsseldorf. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly why this place works so well.
The hotel sits in this quiet residential stretch where you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of traffic, which is pretty rare for a city hotel. I mean, you’re still only about 15 minutes from the Altstadt if you hop on the U-Bahn at Unterrath station (it’s literally a five-minute walk), but the neighborhood has this laid-back vibe that feels more like staying with locals than being stuck in tourist central. The owner – I think his name was Klaus, though don’t quote me on that – actually chatted with me about the best bakery nearby when I checked in, which turned out to be this fantastic little place called Bäckerei Müller just around the corner on Rath. Their pretzels are honestly better than anything I found in the city center, and half the price.
What really struck me about Goldheidis was how they’ve managed to nail the basics without trying to be something they’re not. The rooms are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but the beds are actually good (you know how hit-or-miss hotel beds can be), and the shower pressure was surprisingly strong. There’s this cozy breakfast room where they serve a proper German breakfast spread, and the coffee doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since yesterday, which… well, let’s just say that’s not always guaranteed at three-star places. The staff genuinely seems to care about whether you’re having a decent stay, which you can tell isn’t an act – they remember your name after the first day and actually follow up on recommendations they’ve made. Parking was easy too, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Düsseldorf by car will appreciate. I stayed there during a trade fair week (always chaotic in this city), and while the bigger hotels were completely slammed and treating guests like cattle, this place maintained that personal touch. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you spend a night or two there – it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but it absolutely delivers on being a solid, comfortable base for exploring the city without the tourist markup or the sterile corporate hotel feel.

What a cozy apartment! I stayed with my parents, everything was available at the house for daily life. It was neat clean. There is a lovely balcony with a nice view. Parking available on the street and there is a supermarket just across the street. The host was super nice, she helped a lot.
What could be improved: The sofa bed could be a bit more comfortable. The best place to stay in Düsseldorf – Marta from Poland – 19 March 2025 (10/10)
The flat is cosy and very homely. Very light and warm. It is decorated smartly and with a taste. It has all facilities and even more, for a few day or even a longer stay (a toaster, kitchen towels, coffee, tea, salt and all equipment to cook food for you). The host is very kind and communicative. For the location was perfect. A direct bus to the airport, tram to the centre and 10 minutes to Messe by taxi. Probably the best stay at Booking l have ever had. Seriously, and l am very demanding 😉
Great place for a long or short stay. – Sergio from Germany – 16 January 2025 (10/10)
Everything was perfect and clean
What could be improved: The parking situation. Even though parking was available outside, getting a good spot was difficult.Best apartment near Dusseldort airport. – Leyla from Turkey – 10 January 2025 (10/10)
It was so comfortable, clean, the balcony had a good relaxing city view and the owner was so kind. It is a benefit that it is near to the airport. Getting from the main train station was very easy too. Will definitely book this place whenever I go to Dusseldorf.
Poor – Skirmantas from Netherlands – 23 December 2024 (3/10)
Welcome was perfect. Was clean. There was a kitchen, so very confortable to make breakfast, etc.
What could be improved: Bed was too small for two persons and too soft. Was sleepness night. Impossible to close the bedroom door. Door of apartment was not locked with key.Design, posizione e host TOP – Sara from Italy – 19 March 2025 (10/10)
L'appartamento è davvero bello e curato. La proprietaria è squisita e super disponibile. Tornerò sicuramente tutte le volte che dovrò andare in fiera a Dusseldorf 😀
What could be improved: Nulla, tutto perfettoSuperb – Indra from Germany – 17 March 2025 (9/10)
Niedlich modern skandinavisch eingerichtet
Alles perfekt für einen Düssedorftrip mit klasse Flughafenanbindung. – Monika from Germany – 12 March 2025 (10/10)
Sauber, liebevoll eingerichtet, alles vorhanden was man benötigt.
What could be improved: Die Wohnung ist im vierten Stock. Ältere oder Schwächere werden schwere Koffer dort nicht so einfach hochbekommen. Dies sollte definitiv in der Beschreibung erwähnt werden.Perfecte accomodatie! – Jenie from Netherlands – 9 March 2025 (9/10)
