Honestly, Hotel Ashley’s Garden caught me off guard in the best way possible. I mean, you walk through this unassuming entrance and suddenly you’re hit with this gorgeous courtyard that actually feels like someone’s secret garden – hence the name, I suppose. The whole place has this boutique feel that’s polished enough for a solid 4-star rating but still maintains that personal touch you don’t usually get at chain hotels.

What really struck me was how quiet it gets, especially in the evenings when you’re sitting in that garden area with a drink. You know what I love? The staff actually remembers your name after the first day, which sounds small but makes such a difference when you’re traveling for business or just trying to unwind. The rooms are well-appointed – not huge, but thoughtfully designed with these little touches like proper reading lights (finally!) and blackout curtains that actually work. I stayed on the third floor and honestly had zero noise issues, even though there’s definitely some street activity during the day. The 8.2 rating makes perfect sense once you’re there for a day or two.

The only minor thing – and this is really nitpicking – is that check-in can get a bit backed up during peak times since they clearly prioritize that personal service over speed. But honestly, I’d rather wait five extra minutes and have someone who knows the area give me actual recommendations instead of just handing over a key card. They pointed me toward this fantastic little coffee spot just two blocks over that I never would’ve found otherwise. The whole experience just feels more authentic than most places in this price range, and you can tell they put thought into the details rather than just ticking boxes on some corporate checklist.
