Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Hotel Moon? It’s tucked away on Friedrichstraße in this quietly cool part of Düsseldorf called Unterbilk that most tourists completely miss. I mean, everyone flocks to the Altstadt or Königsallee, but honestly – this neighborhood has so much more character. The hotel itself is one of those places that doesn’t bother with star ratings because, well, it doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone. The 8.5 rating makes perfect sense once you’re there.

The building has this understated elegance that feels very Düsseldorf – not flashy, just really well thought out. Walking in, there’s this subtle scent of cedar and something citrusy that immediately makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special. The lobby isn’t huge, but it’s got these incredibly comfortable leather chairs that I actually saw people working from during the day (the WiFi is solid, by the way). What I loved is how the design feels modern without being cold – lots of natural materials, warm lighting that changes throughout the day. The staff genuinely seems to care about what they’re doing, which you notice in little things like how they remember your name or suggest local spots that aren’t in guidebooks.

Location-wise, you’re maybe a ten-minute walk to the Rhine promenade, and there’s this fantastic bakery – Bäckerei Schmidt – literally around the corner where locals line up for weekend brunch. The tram connections are excellent; you can get to Hauptbahnhof in maybe fifteen minutes, and the airport’s super accessible. Parking can be a bit tricky on the street, but the hotel has arrangements with a nearby garage that won’t completely destroy your budget. I stayed during a quieter period in late September, and the whole area had this lovely residential feel – you hear birds in the morning, not traffic. Though I imagine it gets livelier during trade fair seasons since Düsseldorf is big on business travel. The rooms themselves are thoughtfully designed with these gorgeous hardwood floors and bathrooms that feel like little spas. Actually, the shower pressure was phenomenal – one of those details that makes or breaks a stay for me. There’s something refreshingly honest about this place; it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in the city, but it absolutely nails what it sets out to do.

  • Business trip in Dusseldorf/Cologne – Anastasia from North Macedonia – 21 September 2024 (10/10)

This is small hotel, located at a very good location walking distance 5-7 min from the Dusseldorf Blik train station. It is also close 30 min from main atractions. I was there for business and need to travel each day to Cologne, it was super convenient.
The hosts are very nice and make you feel comfortable and welcomed. The room was simple with basic comodities, super clean, bed comfortable and I can say I slept really good over my 4 days stay even though I am a light sleeper😊.
I am very grateful for the plate of fruits offered to me last day as a gift from the owner because my flight was too early next morning and I didnt have where to buy breakfast except airport.
Both of them do a little gestures that show you that you are welcomed and appreciated.
I would definitelly come back next time I am in the city.
Until our next meeting with the owners I wish them best of luck!
