You know what? Hotel Stadt München is one of those places that gets better the longer you stay. I’ll be honest – when I first walked into the lobby, I wasn’t blown away or anything. It’s got this understated Munich vibe, sort of classic without trying too hard, which actually grew on me pretty quickly.

The thing about this place is it feels properly German, if that makes sense. Not in a touristy way with lederhosen hanging everywhere, but more like… well, it’s just how locals would design a hotel. The rooms are solid – I mean really solid. Thick walls (thank god, because Munich can get lively), decent-sized bathrooms, and honestly some of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in. The 4-star rating feels about right; it’s not trying to be the Vier Jahreszeiten, but it doesn’t need to be. Staff actually knows the city too, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about getting to the Englischer Garten early before the crowds, the guy at reception gave me this whole spiel about which entrance to use and where to grab coffee on the way – stuff you only know if you live here.

What really won me over was how they handle the little things. Check-in was smooth even when I showed up way too early (typical me), and they stored my bags without any drama. The breakfast setup is pretty decent – nothing fancy, but proper German bread and actual good coffee, not that watery hotel stuff. Location-wise, you’re close enough to the action but not right in the middle of all the tourist chaos around Marienplatz. I could walk to most places I wanted to see, and when I didn’t feel like walking, the U-Bahn connections are right there. Parking was easier than expected too – they’ve got a garage situation worked out, which honestly saved my sanity because Munich parking is… well, it’s Munich parking. The 8.3 rating makes total sense to me. It’s not perfect – the WiFi could be stronger, and some of the furniture looks like it’s from 2010 – but it does what it promises really well. I’d definitely stay here again, especially because the price point feels fair for what you get. Sometimes you find places that just work, you know? This is one of those.
