Hotel Description

You know what? Jalda Apartments isn’t going to win any design awards, but there’s something refreshingly honest about this place that I actually appreciated. It sits right on Akademiestraße in Düsseldorf’s Altstadt – and I mean literally in the heart of the old town, where you can practically roll out of bed and stumble into those famous breweries everyone raves about. The building itself has that slightly worn European charm that screams “I’ve been here since way before Airbnb was a thing,” which honestly felt more authentic than some of the sterile boutique places I’ve stayed at.

The apartments themselves are… well, they’re apartments. Nothing fancy, but everything works, and there’s actually decent space to spread out your stuff – something you don’t always get in these historic city centers. The 7.1 rating makes sense when you think about it; it’s not luxury, but it’s not trying to be. What struck me most was how quiet it gets at night despite being smack in the middle of everything. I guess these old buildings know how to keep the noise out, though you’ll definitely hear some late-night revelers on weekends (comes with the territory when you’re literally surrounded by alt beer halls). The check-in was surprisingly smooth – no fancy lobby or anything, just practical German efficiency that gets you sorted without any fuss.

Here’s the thing though – location-wise, you really can’t do much better if you want to experience Düsseldorf properly. I mean, you’re a two-minute walk from Bolkerstraße where all the action happens, the Rhine promenade is right there when you need to escape the crowds, and honestly, you can explore most of the Altstadt on foot without ever needing to figure out the tram system. The morning bakery smell drifting up from the street level is actually pretty amazing – there’s this little place around the corner that locals hit up for fresh bread, and trust me, that’s your breakfast situation right there. Sure, it’s not going to coddle you with room service or a spa, but if you’re the type who uses a hotel room as a base camp rather than a destination, Jalda Apartments does exactly what it needs to do without any pretense about it.

  Cute apartment that was very well located in the old town. Place is nicer than the pictures.
  
  What could be improved: Water in the shower was not very hot. The owners need to replace the water heater.

  Location in the heart of old Dusseldorf. Large space and family could spread out. Loved the old modernised building. This property has great potential if managed properly..
  
  What could be improved: They had problems before we arrived, and the shower was broken(cracked and door missing), so we didn't want to flood the floor as not sealed properly. Floor dirty, vacuumed but not moped. Mouldy tea towel and freezer. No soap.. Forgot to mention 51 steps to property and no lift. There is no fire extinguisher on the floor, so it's very unsafe.

  What could be improved: The bathroom sink was a headache, needs to be replaced or moved to somewhere else. Cant wash face at all. Very small and the box on top makes it unaccessable.

  the location was close to the Christmas markets and the promenade.
  
  What could be improved: it was a trek from the metro with luggage on cobblestone streets and then up many stairs. The instructions for where to go and how to get in were not clear and the Wi-Fi password was not written inside but the owner was responsive when we called for both reasons. Other booking.com locations have sent us an email prior with these things which would have been helpful. We also couldn’t get the radiators to warm the place very much but we just bundled up.

  Location is very central. Nearby to main attractions. Apartment is very clean and well maintained. Staff are very courteous and helpful.

  Location, easy to check in, apartment is big, it is quiet in the apartment and clean.
