Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “(Messe)Zimmer mit Bad und Ankleideraum + Parkplatz” I thought, well, that’s very German and very practical. But this little place on Irmerstraße completely surprised me in the best way possible.

You know what struck me first? The fact that they actually mean it when they say “mit Parkplatz” – there’s genuine parking included, which if you’ve ever tried to park in Düsseldorf during a trade fair, you’ll understand is basically worth its weight in gold. I mean, Stockum might not be the flashy Königsallee district, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. You’re tucked away from the tourist crowds but still close enough to everything that matters. The whole area has this quiet residential feel during the day, then comes alive when the Messe events are running.

The room itself – and I think calling it just a “room” undersells it – feels more like a carefully curated studio apartment. That “Ankleideraum” (dressing room) they mention? It’s not just marketing speak. There’s actually proper space to spread out your clothes, which sounds trivial until you’re living out of a suitcase for a week and trying to look presentable for business meetings. The bathroom is modern without being sterile, and honestly, the water pressure is better than my apartment back home. What really got me though were the little touches – proper hangers (not those annoying attached ones), decent lighting for actually getting ready, and windows that open wide enough to let in fresh air without the street noise being overwhelming. The Irmerstraße location is surprisingly quiet at night, even though you’re not far from the main action.

The whole setup feels like someone actually thought about how travelers live, not just where they sleep. During Messe season, you’ll run into other business travelers in the morning – there’s this unspoken camaraderie of people who’ve discovered this gem instead of staying in the big chain hotels closer to the fairgrounds. But honestly, even if you’re just visiting Düsseldorf for the weekend, this works perfectly. You’re a quick trip to the Altstadt, the airport is practically next door, and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that doesn’t try to be everything to everyone. It just does what it does really, really well. The 9-star rating from other guests makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but for what it is, it’s pretty much perfect.

  This private room was in a lovely house very close- within walking distance- to Messe Düsseldorf. The owner was extremely kind and welcoming and accepted our request to keep our luggage before check in and leave our luggage after we checked out. The room was very big, well decorated and very clean. We had a great sleep as the place was exceptionally silent. All the appliances were brand new, there was even a Nepresso machine in the room and many espresso capsules, a very pleasant surprise after a long day at the messe. The bed was very comfortable, and the heating was superb, we did not feel the Dusseldorf cold weather at all.
