Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to 54 Sperlingsweg, I wasn’t expecting much from what’s basically a residential apartment building in Unterrath. But this duplex actually surprised me in the best way possible. The neighborhood feels properly German suburban, you know? Quiet tree-lined streets where you can actually hear birds in the morning (hence the street name, I guess – Sperlingsweg means “sparrow way”). It’s about a 15-minute drive to the Messe, which is clutch if you’re in town for a trade show and want to escape that whole convention hotel scene.

The apartment itself has this interesting layout that works really well for small groups or families. The 2.5 bedroom setup means you get two proper bedrooms plus this smaller space that could work as an office or extra sleeping area – honestly perfect if you’re traveling with kids or need somewhere to spread out your work stuff. What I really appreciated was how the duplex design gives you actual separation between floors, so someone can watch TV downstairs while others sleep upstairs without everyone getting cranky. The kitchen is properly equipped too, not just some sad mini-fridge situation, which matters when you’re staying more than a couple nights and German restaurant prices start adding up.

Here’s what actually sold me on the place though – the transport connections are genuinely solid once you figure them out. There’s a U-Bahn station (Unterrath) about an 8-minute walk away that gets you into the city center in maybe 20 minutes, and honestly the walk through the residential streets is kind of pleasant. The airport is close enough that you can hear planes occasionally, but it’s not that constant overhead roar that drives you insane – more like a distant hum that actually becomes weirdly soothing. Plus, if you’re renting a car, parking here is infinitely easier than anywhere near the Altstadt. The Arena (that’s the Merkur Spiel-Arena where Fortuna Düsseldorf plays) is also super accessible, though match days obviously get a bit hectic around the whole area. I mean, it’s not luxury by any stretch – this is a solid 3-star situation with clean, functional spaces and reliable wifi – but sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you want to experience Düsseldorf like you actually live there instead of just passing through.

  Wir waren extrem zufrieden. Von außen wirkt das Haus älter. Jedoch is es innen sehr neu und wirkt recht frisch renoviert. Alles war extrem sauber. Auf den Fotos wirkt es größer. Trotzdem für uns vollkommen ausreichend. Wir durften Kaffe nutzen und haben wunderbare Betten gehabt. Selbst das Schlafsofa ist sehr bequem! Wir hatten alles was wir brauchten.
  Mit dem Auto (Parkplatz direkt vor der Tür!) Waren wir in 6 min. In der Stadt und beim nächsten Supermarkt. . Die Kommunikation war einfach, schnell, problemlos und freundlich ! Immer wieder gerne!

  Sehr saubere, ruhig gelegene und moderne Unterkunft. Es steht genügend Platz zur Verfügung um auch mit mehreren Personen dort zu nächtigen. Die Kommunikation mit dem Unterkunftgeber hat perfekt funktioniert. Alle Bitten, Anfragen, etc. wurden umgehend beantwortet.
