Okay, so I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Steinkribbenstraße, I wasn’t expecting much. Benrath isn’t exactly the flashy part of Düsseldorf that tourists usually rave about, but man, was I wrong about this place. The duplex sits on this quiet residential street that actually feels like real Germany, you know? Not the sanitized hotel district stuff, but where actual people live and walk their dogs in the morning.

The moment you step inside, it hits you – this isn’t some cookie-cutter hotel room. It’s actually designed by someone who gets what travelers want. The space flows really well between levels, and there’s this natural light thing happening that I can’t quite explain, but it makes you want to just… settle in. The kitchen isn’t just for show either (I mean, so many places give you a kitchen with no decent knives or a coffee maker that barely works). Here, I actually ended up cooking a couple evenings because the Rewe down on Benrather Schlossallee has great local stuff, and honestly? Sometimes you get tired of restaurant hunting every single night. The duplex setup means you’ve got real separation too – I could take calls upstairs while my partner watched German TV downstairs without us driving each other crazy.

What really sold me on the area was discovering that Benrath Palace is literally a ten-minute walk away. I stumbled across it on my second morning – didn’t even know it existed before arriving – and it’s this gorgeous baroque palace with gardens that barely anyone talks about. Way less crowded than the touristy spots in Altstadt, but just as impressive. The S-Bahn connection from Benrath station gets you into central Düsseldorf in about twenty minutes, which is perfect because you get the best of both worlds. Quiet neighborhood vibes when you want to decompress, but easy access when you want to hit Königsallee or the old town. Parking was surprisingly stress-free too – there’s actually space on the street, unlike trying to park anywhere near the Hauptbahnhof area.

I should mention, the place does get that 9.5 rating for good reason. Everything just… works. The shower pressure is fantastic (and if you’ve stayed in enough European places, you know this isn’t guaranteed), the wifi didn’t drop once during my four-day stay, and check-in was smooth. The owner clearly knows their stuff about what business travelers and longer-stay visitors actually need. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Düsseldorf, but it nails the fundamentals while giving you space to breathe. If you’re the type who likes exploring beyond the obvious tourist zones and wants a place that feels more like a temporary home than a hotel room, this duplex really delivers.

  Der Host hat vieles gut durchdacht, so dass es uns an nichts fehlte und wir uns dort schnell zurecht gefunden haben. Check in und Check out erfolgte kontaktlos und war unproblematisch, da wir eine sehr gut erklärte Beschreibung dazu hatten.
  Sehr sauber und gemütlich eingerichtet.
