You know what struck me first about this place? It’s actually in Unterbach, which honestly most people visiting Düsseldorf probably haven’t heard of – but that’s exactly why I loved it. The apartment sits on Rathelbeckstraße, and while that might sound intimidating to pronounce, it’s this quiet residential street that feels completely removed from tourist chaos. I mean, you’re still only about 15 minutes from the city center, but the vibe here is pure local neighborhood.

The building itself is pretty typical German residential architecture – nothing fancy from the outside, but once you’re up on the first floor (that’s the 1. OG they mention), the apartment is genuinely modern and thoughtfully set up. The owner clearly gets what travelers actually need. There’s proper counter space in the kitchen (not just some tiny corner), decent Wi-Fi that doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and – this might sound small but trust me it matters – really good blackout curtains. The whole space feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile rental property, if that makes sense.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Unterbach isn’t a party district by any stretch, so you’ll actually sleep well here. During the day, there’s this nice little bakery about a five-minute walk away where locals grab their morning bread – I found myself becoming a regular pretty quickly. The S-Bahn connection isn’t right outside your door, but there’s a decent bus line that gets you to the main transport hubs without much fuss. Parking was surprisingly easy too, which anyone who’s driven in German cities will tell you is basically a miracle.

The 9.6 rating makes total sense once you stay here. It’s not trying to be some luxury hotel experience, but everything just… works. The shower has proper water pressure, the heating responds when you adjust it, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no standing around lobbies or dealing with overbooked situations. I think what sets it apart is that it feels authentic to the area. You’re staying where actual Düsseldorfers live, shopping at the same small grocery store, walking the same tree-lined streets. It’s the kind of place where you might actually bump into your elderly German neighbor and have a friendly chat about the weather (well, assuming your German is better than mine was).

  A cute apartment in a very beautiful and peaceful location on the outskirts of Düsseldorf. It has two spacious and bright rooms, and a very well equipped kitchen. We had good coffee pad supplies as well.
  There is a nice little garden just a step outside.
  
  You could use the washing machine downstairs at additional cost.
  The bus stop is just a few steps away.
  The beautiful lake and forest park are about 15 min walk.
  There is a supermarket and a couple of nice restaurants at 20 min walk .
  The host Robert and his family were so kind an responsive.
  We would definitely come back again

  everything was great. It is a very pleasant apartment to spend time in. Especially the kitchen stuff was very useful. Hygen was perfect. We loved the residential area where the house is located. the hosts Robert and Kristan were very kind and helpful. We would definitely choose it again. thanks for everything.

  supermarket (about 1 km) & bus stop (200 m), spacious apartment, and above all the host Robert, who was very thorough and helpful with all our questions

  The owner of the property were nice , gave necessary information and always asked how we were fairing. The location was good, 2 buses that route through the street of the location. Very good access with a car. Beautiful, calm area.
  
  What could be improved: The accomodation tax which was on booking but wasn't specified that we were the ones to pay in cash. The owner apologised about that, booking doesn't take that payments when one makes reservation, otherwise It was well explained by the owner and we understood and got it rectified.

  Super tolle Unterkunft. Toll eingerichtet. Tolle Lage. Alles da was man braucht. Und der Vermieter mit Familie super nett. Sehr hilfsbereit und sind gleich zur Stelle wenn man Fragen oder Hilfe braucht.
