Honestly, when I first walked up to My Sweet Apartment on Kölner Straße, I wasn’t expecting much – the name’s a bit of a mouthful, and Oberbilk isn’t exactly the postcard part of Düsseldorf. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are in neighborhoods that don’t try so hard to impress tourists.

The thing about this place is it actually feels like staying in someone’s well-kept apartment rather than a sterile hotel room. The owner clearly put thought into the details – there’s proper kitchen equipment (not those sad little coffee makers you usually get), decent Wi-Fi that doesn’t cut out when you’re trying to work, and the kind of shower pressure that makes you want to stay in there forever. I mean, it’s a 3-star place so don’t expect marble bathrooms, but everything works and it’s genuinely clean. The windows are double-glazed too, which matters because Kölner Straße can get busy during rush hour – though honestly, the traffic dies down pretty quickly in the evenings.

What I really appreciated was how easy it made exploring the city. You’re about a 15-minute tram ride from the Altstadt, and there’s a decent döner place literally two blocks away that stays open late (trust me on this one). The area’s got that authentic local vibe – you’ll see more Germans heading to work than tourists with cameras, which I found refreshing. Plus, if you’re here for business stuff around the Messe, you’re positioned perfectly without paying those crazy downtown hotel prices. Parking was surprisingly manageable too – there’s street parking that doesn’t require a PhD in German parking regulations to figure out. The check-in process was smooth, though you might want to coordinate arrival times since it’s not a traditional hotel with 24-hour front desk service. The owner was responsive when I had questions, and they clearly know their property well. Look, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the furnishings are more IKEA than boutique, but everything’s functional and comfortable. I actually slept better here than at some fancier places I’ve stayed – sometimes you just want a quiet, well-organized space without all the fuss.

  The host is very friendly. He also waited for us even with last minute notification. Apartment is cozy perfect for a family of 4 like us. A few minutes walk to train station. And you can park for free downstairs.
  
  What could be improved: Some equipments are a bit old, but we were not expecting a hotel standards so it is ok.
  If it is above 30 degree during the day, it can be hot to sleep. The fan help a bit.

  Самі аппартаменти чисті і є все необхідне, зручні ліжка! Господар дуже гостинний і все пройшло отлічно! Розташування- 5 хвилин пішки до жд вокзал
