Hotel Description

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the voco Düsseldorf Seestern – it’s tucked away in this quiet residential area called Lörick that most tourists probably never even hear about. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it special. The hotel sits right at the Seestern plaza (that’s where the name comes from), and while it might not scream “glamorous city break,” there’s something refreshingly authentic about staying where actual Düsseldorfers live and work.

The building itself has that sleek, modern German efficiency thing going on – all clean lines and floor-to-ceiling windows that actually open (thank god, because some of these newer hotels seal you in like a space capsule). I mean, it’s definitely a business hotel at heart, but they’ve done this renovation that gives it more personality than your typical corporate chain spot. The lobby has this warm, lived-in feeling with local artwork and these comfortable seating areas where I actually saw people hanging out rather than just rushing through. Check-in was smooth – the staff genuinely seemed to know the neighborhood well, which came in handy when I needed dinner recommendations that weren’t just the usual tourist traps.

What really won me over was how connected you feel to real Düsseldorf life here. Fritz-Vomfelde-Strasse might sound intimidating, but it’s actually this pleasant tree-lined street where you’ll see families walking to the nearby parks and locals grabbing coffee at the small cafés. The U-Bahn stop is literally a two-minute walk (Lörick station), so getting into the Altstadt or the shopping areas is stupidly easy – faster than staying downtown with all the traffic, honestly. And here’s something the booking sites don’t tell you: there’s this fantastic Vietnamese restaurant called Saigon Star just around the corner that’s apparently been a neighborhood institution for years. The hotel staff will point you toward it if you ask, but it’s one of those places you’d never find on your own. Parking was straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven in German cities will appreciate. The 8.4 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but everything just works the way it should, and you end up feeling like you’ve discovered something rather than just booked another generic hotel room.

Hotels in Dusseldorf offer guests the perfect blend of German sophistication and modern comfort, with many featuring fashion concierge services and traditional Rhine brewery experiences to enhance the authentic German cultural experience.

Reviews

  • Lovely modern hotel, good location, great staff, take cash for the carpark – Billm from United Kingdom – 28 July 2025 (9/10)

Modern well appointed hotel at convenient location. Room was very clean, comfortable and well appointed. Dinner in restaurant/ bar area was enjoyable and service was good. Breakfast choice was extensive, varied and well presented. Good onsite underground secure parking, at charge of 15€ per day. Staff from check-in to check out were very friendly, attentive and accommodating.

What could be improved: On checking out, I was advised that payment for use of the carpark was by cash only at the machine located in the carpark. I advised the Receptionist that I did not have any cash and I asked if I could pay the hotel by card, along with my card payment of the dinner bill. I was told that this is not possible, as the carpark is owned/ operated by another party i.e. not the hotel. I asked if the hotel could offer me cash in exchange for a payment to it with my debit card. I was told that this was not possible. I asked if there was an ATM machine that I could use to obtain cash. The answer was no. The Receptionist said she could give me a telephone number for the carpark owner/ operator and that I could call him later that day to arrange payment. I thanked her for this information and she enabled me to drive my car out of the carpark by lending me a card to raise the exit barrier. Later that day (a Sunday) I telephoned the number given to me and I had to leave a voicemail message. The carpark contact called me later in the day and I asked to pay the 15€ charge by credit or debit card. I was advised that this was not possible and that I would need to make a money transfer to his Company German Bank Account. It took over two weeks for me to get the bank information and receive confirmation from the German Bank that there would be an additional charge to me of 7-50€ for their receipt of my 15€. I would, therefore, be charged 22-50€ in total. I struck a deal with the carpark contact and transferred money to the German Bank. I only outline the detail of this situation so that others may avoid the time consuming interaction I have had. All of this might have been avoided if the Hotel Voco had detailed the carpark arrangement on its website instead of stating. “… you can leave your car secured in our parking garage where a daily fee applies while you on business or discovering the city.…”. Alternatively, a facility to obtain cash in the hotel would provide a solution.

  • Great for an overnight stay or long weekend – Andrew from United Kingdom – 24 July 2025 (9/10)

Hotel was well situated and very smart inside. The staff were very attentive. Room was spacious and breakfast was excellent. Parking on-site was useful although it was a little expensive

What could be improved: My friend, although not disabled does struggle to bend down and uses a walking stick. He could not find a disabled toilet in the bar or restaurant area and felt this is something that could have been improved on

Friendliness of staff is outstanding, except for that grumpy night porter. But please keep him on. Love it.

What could be improved: I have nothing to complain

  • Very good – Jana from Latvia – 10 February 2025 (8/10)

Very spacious and clean room. Very nice staff that offered a late check-out option.

What could be improved: Breakfast could be better, very random options.

  • Parking @ Voco – cash needed. – Dickason from Netherlands – 17 January 2025 (8/10)

I requested a cot for our baby. When we got to the room there wasn't one. I asked at the reception before we went for dinner and when we got to the room there was a nice camping cot with a pillow and duvet and extra towels.

What could be improved: We were not made aware that the parking must be paid with cash. This was a bit of an inconvenience as we do not carry cash.
Luckily, a friendly staff member was able to assist us with getting our car out of the parking to get cash.
