Hotel Description
So I stayed at this place called “Wohnung mit Balkon am Rhein” in Heerdt – which, honestly, translates to “apartment with balcony on the Rhine,” and that’s pretty much exactly what you get. No fancy marketing names here, just German directness at its finest. The location is actually really clever if you know Düsseldorf at all – Heerdt is this quiet residential district that most tourists completely miss, but it’s literally right across the river from the old town. You can see the city skyline from that balcony they promise, and the whole vibe is way more authentic than staying in some sterile hotel in Königsallee.
The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home that they’ve decided to rent out – which I mean, it probably is. There’s this lived-in quality that’s either charming or slightly worn depending on your mood when you arrive. The balcony really is the star though; I found myself having coffee out there every morning watching the Rhine traffic go by. You’ve got these massive cargo ships that somehow look graceful, and if you’re lucky with timing, you’ll catch the white boats from the KD Rhine line heading toward Cologne. The neighborhood is super quiet – almost eerily so if you’re used to city center energy – but that’s actually perfect after spending days wandering around Düsseldorf’s bustling Altstadt. Getting into the city center is straightforward enough; there’s a tram stop maybe a ten-minute walk away, though honestly, if the weather’s decent, just walk across the Rheinknie Bridge. Takes about twenty minutes and you get those postcard views everyone’s always posting.
What I really appreciated was how the place doesn’t try to be something it’s not. It’s a solid 3-star setup – clean, functional, with that balcony view that probably bumps it up a category in terms of experience. The 7.3 rating makes sense; it’s not going to blow your mind, but there’s nothing seriously wrong either. Parking was easier than I expected for this part of Germany, and the check-in process was refreshingly simple. The kitchen actually has proper equipment if you want to grab groceries from the Rewe down the street and cook something – which, you know what, sometimes beats another schnitzel dinner. I’d definitely consider staying here again, especially if I wanted that balance of being close to Düsseldorf’s action but coming home to somewhere that feels residential and calm. Just don’t expect luxury amenities or 24-hour service – this is more like borrowing a local friend’s spare room, complete with Rhine views and the sound of river traffic instead of city sirens.
The concierge service in Dusseldorf can arrange exclusive tours of luxury fashion boutiques, secure reservations at Michelin-starred restaurants, and organize personalized visits to world-class art museums and the scenic Rhine promenade.

The location is really good being this near a Tram station to go into the city. The Apartment is nicely furnished, and the bed is pretty good.
What could be improved: There was only one role of toilet paper but that's a minor nitpick.Sympa – Hugo from Belgium – 25 April 2025 (6/10)
Petit appartement où il fait bon vivre petite terrasse sympa et bien situé. Calme . Et hôte agréable et réactif.
What could be improved: Il manquait de la literie pour les enfants , les coussins ne ressemblaient à rien vide aucun maintient, dommage pas de taque intégré dans la cuisine ni de hotte et les produits d’entretient vide et pas de lessive alors que c’est un minimum je trouve dans tout les appartement il y avait tout à disposition même capsule à café.Good – Nelly from Canada – 16 April 2025 (7/10)
