Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to acora Düsseldorf Living the City – honestly, the name sounds a bit corporate and the Hassels neighborhood isn’t exactly where most tourists land. But this place actually surprised me in a good way. It’s tucked away on In der Donk, which is this quiet residential street that feels completely removed from the typical hotel chaos, yet you’re still properly connected to everything that matters in Düsseldorf.
The thing about this hotel is that it gets the basics really right without trying to be something it’s not. The rooms have this clean, modern vibe – sort of minimalist but not in that cold, sterile way some 3-star places can feel. I mean, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or anything fancy, but the beds are actually comfortable (which, let’s be honest, is what really matters after a long day), and there’s decent space to spread out your stuff. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night – being in Hassels means you’re away from the Rhine party boats and late-night bar crowds that can keep you up in the Altstadt. The staff seemed genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward.
Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize until they stay here – yes, you’re technically in a suburb, but the public transport connections are solid. You can get to the main train station or the old town without much fuss, and honestly, it’s kind of nice having a quieter base to return to. Plus, there’s actual parking available, which anyone who’s tried to drive in central Düsseldorf will tell you is worth its weight in gold. The area has some decent local spots for dinner too – nothing touristy, just regular German places where you can get proper schnitzel without paying tourist prices. I’d say this hotel works especially well if you’re here for business (there are several office complexes nearby) or if you prefer a more residential feel over being right in the thick of tourist central. The 7.9 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises.

The staff were absolutely lovely! Room was super clean and spacious, we even had a little balcony which we really appreciated. Location is great, so easy to access public transport.
Great stay, we are coming back! – Sabah from Netherlands – 6 November 2024 (8/10)
Very large room, everything we need was in the room. Breakfast was good and we were close to public transportation. What also an advantage is, is that you can parc your car free at the hotel. Staff was very helpful!
Nice hotel just a bit outside of the city center with amazing matrasses! – Zack from Netherlands – 8 September 2024 (8/10)
The staff was kind. They were quick on their feet to serve you. The room had all the basics one require. I loved the fact there were Nespresso machines with cups. The cups were refilled every day. The cleaned the beds everyday.
What could be improved: Unfortunately the rooms had silverfishes. Silverfishes don't bite you, but can carry bacteria and mold. I told this to the staff and they were very sorry and gave me some bug spray. The bug spray helped kill off the silverfishes. Fortunately, this bug spray did not smell bad and afterwards did not see the bugs anymore.Good location and amenities, comfortable beds. Would stay again. – Jade from United Kingdom – 3 September 2024 (9/10)
Comfortable beds, large room with plenty of storage space, mini fridge and safe.
Location was great as we were driving, so avoided LEZ zones and had free parking on site including secure underground parking. Hotel was easy to find.
Free WiFi, short walk to multiple shops and short walk to train station.
All rooms had balconies too so was nice to sit outside in the evenings.
What could be improved: Requested a queen bed when selecting the room, as it showed I had the option to choose bed set-up, though the room had two twin beds pushed together.Would book again – Michael from Austria – 20 June 2024 (9/10)
The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept super well! The room was large in size and clean. The breakfast for 10 Euros was a great price and the staff was really friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again. Public transport connection to the city centre is also good if you're not returning to the hotel too late.
What could be improved: I'm not the biggest fan of carpet flooring and it didn't feel super clean (even though it was but that's just the feeling you get from old carpet floors. Apart from that we had everything we needed.Stayed overnight after visiting friends in Solingen. Too tired to go to Dusseldorf center in evening – Nysgjerrig-per from Switzerland – 27 April 2024 (9/10)
friendly staff, huge room with balcony, good breakfast, excellent coffee
