You know what’s funny about Apartment Düsseldorf-Lohausen II? The name makes it sound like some sterile corporate housing, but honestly, this place surprised me in the best way. It sits right on Lohauser Dorfstraße in what used to be this sleepy village before the airport took over – and I mean that literally, since you’re practically next door to Düsseldorf Airport. But here’s the thing everyone gets wrong about staying near airports: yeah, you’ll hear planes, but it’s not the constant roar you’d expect. More like a gentle whoosh every few minutes that actually becomes kind of soothing after the first night.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home rather than a hotel room that’s been focus-grouped to death. When I walked in, there was this lived-in quality – not worn down, just… comfortable. The kitchen actually has proper coffee (not those awful pod machines), and the locals at the little bakery down the street will give you directions in that patient way Germans do when they realize you’re trying your best with the language. What really struck me was how quiet the neighborhood gets after 8 PM – it’s this weird pocket of calm despite being so close to all the airport action. The S-Bahn connection is right there when you need it, but you can also just walk around Lohausen’s old village center and feel like you’ve stepped back in time. There’s this church that dates back centuries, and the whole area has these narrow streets that somehow survived all the modern development around the airport.

I’ll be honest – this isn’t the place if you want a fancy lobby or someone to carry your bags. But that 8.8 rating makes total sense when you realize what you’re actually getting: a genuinely comfortable base that doesn’t feel like every other place you’ve stayed. The shower has proper water pressure (trust me, this matters), the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and you’re not paying city center prices for the privilege. Plus, if you’re flying in or out of Düsseldorf, you literally cannot get more convenient without sleeping in the terminal. I ended up extending my stay an extra day just because I wasn’t ready to deal with the hassle of finding something else, and that’s probably the best endorsement I can give any place.

  Comfortable mattress, well equipped kitchen, washing machine, close to the tennis courts, free parking on the street. Grocery is close in walking distance.. garden view and small balcony. Everything is as written in description..

  We chose this apartment because of its close proximity to ProWein—it took us literally 15 minutes on foot, which was truly great.
  The apartment is comfortable, well-equipped, and suitable even for a longer stay. Everything was tidy and clean upon arrival. It has a large terrace overlooking a lovely garden. While there is no designated parking space, it's easy to find parking right in front of the building. You can drive up to the entrance briefly, which is perfectly convenient for loading or unloading your belongings.
  The host is very kind—I had some personal requests regarding package deliveries, and everything went flawlessly on his part.
  Everything you might need—supermarket, bakery, restaurants—is within a 5–10 minute walk from the apartment.
  All in all, excellent.
  
  What could be improved: It wouldn’t be fair not to mention the following:
  The apartment is literally on the flight path for landings at the local airport. But—and this is a big BUT—please read everything. Landings stopped somewhere between 10 and 11 PM, and the first one we heard was around 7 AM. Besides that, the apartment is well soundproofed. You can hear the planes, of course, but it's no louder than a car passing by the building. We had no issues sleeping at all.
  On the other hand, if you’re an aviation enthusiast, this is actually a big plus!
  As for the apartment itself, there are a few minor things to fix—tighten a screw here and there, repair a shelf in the shower—and that’s about it.
