So, Apartments an der Kö – honestly, the name’s a bit misleading because you’re not actually on Königsallee (that’s the fancy shopping street everyone talks about), but you’re close enough that it doesn’t really matter. The place sits on this quiet residential street in Friedrichstadt, which I actually prefer because you get that authentic Düsseldorf neighborhood feel without tourists constantly wheeling suitcases past your window at all hours.

The apartments themselves are pretty solid for what you’re paying – I mean, it’s a 3-star setup, so don’t expect marble countertops or anything, but everything works and it’s clean. What I really liked was having that little kitchenette situation going on, which honestly saved me a fortune since eating out in Düsseldorf can get pricey fast. The walk to the Altstadt takes maybe 15 minutes if you’re not in a hurry, and there’s this great bakery on Bilker Straße (just around the corner) where the locals actually go – you know it’s good when you hear more German than English in the morning. The tram connections are decent too, though I found myself walking most places because the city center’s not that big once you get your bearings.

You know what struck me most? The staff actually seemed to care about the place, which you don’t always get with apartment-style accommodations. Check-in was straightforward, and when I had an issue with the wifi on my second day, they sorted it out without making me feel like I was asking for the moon. The building itself has that solid German construction feel – thick walls, proper windows that actually seal, none of that flimsy stuff you sometimes encounter. It gets pretty quiet at night, which was perfect after long days of wandering around. The 7.4 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises. If you’re the type who wants a proper base for exploring Düsseldorf rather than just a place to crash, and you appreciate having some kitchen space to make your own coffee the way you like it, this spot works really well.

  What could be improved: The management of this hotel is very poor, two times I was in this hotel their elevator is not functioning, I have to climb 6th floor with luggage , I will never book this hotel again, I have the same bad experience in their munich branch, their elevator is neither working also in Munich, shame

  Costumer service: We had initially asked for a baby cot, that request was approved but then most likely forgotten. When I phoned the costumer service: They were helpful, apologized and organized a baby cot within 3 hours.

  The location was good, great to supermarket, cafe, restaurant, the city centre and a lot of shops.
  I liked the free water, tea and coffee offered by the property.
  
  What could be improved: So the room didn’t get cleaned and towel didn’t gent changed during our 1 week of stay.
  At least I expected extra napkins and bags to be placed in the room.
