Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of apartment hotels, and honestly? Most of them feel like someone just threw some IKEA furniture into an empty office building and called it a day. But Cityapartments on Stresemannstraße is actually different – and I mean that in the best way possible.

First thing you notice walking in is how quiet it is, which is pretty remarkable considering you’re smack in the middle of Düsseldorf. The building itself has this solid, well-maintained feel that you don’t always get with apartment-style places. My unit had these big windows that let in tons of natural light, and the kitchen – well, it’s a proper kitchen, not just a mini-fridge with delusions of grandeur. I actually cooked a few meals there, which says something because hotel kitchens usually make me want to order takeout instead. The appliances work like they’re supposed to, there’s real counter space, and they’ve got decent cookware that isn’t all scratched up.

What really impressed me though was how they’ve managed to make it feel like a home rather than just a place to crash. The furniture is comfortable (I spent way too many evenings sprawled on that couch), and there’s enough storage that you can actually unpack if you’re staying more than a few days. The Wi-Fi is rock solid – important when you’re trying to work or just want to stream something after a long day exploring the city. And you know what’s nice? The whole place just feels clean and well-cared-for, from the lobby to the hallways to the apartment itself. Sometimes these extended-stay places can feel a bit worn around the edges, but not here.

The location is pretty sweet too – you’re close enough to the Altstadt that you can walk there when the weather’s decent, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with all the tourist chaos and late-night noise. There’s a decent grocery store within a few blocks (I think it was an EDEKA?), which is clutch when you’ve got that kitchen to work with. Public transport connections are solid – the U-Bahn isn’t far, and you can get pretty much anywhere in the city without much hassle. Parking was surprisingly manageable for Düsseldorf, though I’d still recommend checking on that when you book if you’re planning to drive.

I mean, at a 9.7 rating, you’d expect it to be good, but sometimes those numbers can be misleading. This place actually earns it – it’s the kind of spot where everything just works the way it’s supposed to, without any of those little annoyances that can derail a trip. Whether you’re in town for business or just want a proper base for exploring the city, it’s honestly hard to find much to complain about. Just don’t expect a traditional hotel experience with daily housekeeping and a concierge – this is more like borrowing a really nice friend’s apartment, which in my book is often way better anyway.
