Hotel Description

You know what? I almost walked right past Hotel Doria the first time I was looking for it on Duisburger Straße. It’s tucked into this quiet residential stretch in Pempelfort, and honestly, that turned out to be one of its best features. While everyone’s fighting for spots near the Altstadt, you’re getting actual sleep here – no drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM, just the occasional tram rumbling by in the distance.

The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense German feel to it. Three stars might sound modest, but they’ve clearly put thought into the details that actually matter. The rooms are compact but cleverly laid out – I mean, this isn’t a sprawling American chain hotel, but you’ve got everything you need without feeling cramped. The beds are properly firm (thank god), and the windows actually open, which is rarer than you’d think these days. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays inside, even though you’re still connected to the city. You can walk to the Rhine in about ten minutes, and the U-Bahn connections are solid once you figure out the local rhythm.

Here’s the thing about Pempelfort that most visitors miss – it’s where you go when you want to feel like you’re living in Düsseldorf, not just visiting it. There’s this great little bakery two blocks down that opens ridiculously early, and the staff at Doria actually knows about places like that. They’re not just handing you the same tourist map everyone gets; they’ll tell you which direction to walk for proper schnitzel or where to grab groceries if you’re staying a few days. The 8.3 rating makes perfect sense when you spend time here – it’s not trying to be flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything works the way it should. Check-in was straightforward, the WiFi didn’t cut out every five minutes, and the shower had proper water pressure. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want after a long day of actually exploring the city instead of just sitting in your hotel room.

Dusseldorf hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic Altstadt district to elegant luxury hotels and modern accommodations along the prestigious Königsallee shopping street.

Reviews

  • Great hotel in Dusseldorf – Ioana from Romania – 19 July 2025 (9/10)

The room was very comfortable and clean, great breakfast, convenient location, close to downtown, supermarket nearby.

What could be improved: Nothing to add

  • Great stay, great location. – Kester from United Kingdom – 24 June 2025 (8/10)

Comfy bed, good location, easy check-in.

  • Ok but noisy – Vartanova from Switzerland – 31 March 2025 (7/10)

It was okay hotel for its price, but it was quite noisy to sleep

  • Very good – Tom from Belgium – 22 January 2025 (8/10)

We stayed here during a big watersport Expo in the Düsseldorf Expohall, since other hotels in the area drove up their price excessively. Doria was a positive surprise for us. The good location, the more than expected spacious rooms (!) and the reasonable price impressed us. We will come again.

  • Perfect location to sample Dusseldorf and deal with jet lag before river cruise – Roger from United States – 31 August 2024 (9/10)

Perfectly clean and functional hotel well located for pleasant walks to nearby points of interest. There is easy access to public transportation (which we used from the airport), many great cafes/restaurants, bakery and groceries nearby. The staff at the desk (limited hours) was very helpful and friendly. Key pick up and entry was super easy. We could walk to river cruise embarkation in less than 20 minutes. The hotel itself is very quiet, good showers and comfy beds. We could book a room for each of us for 2 nights, to deal with jet lag after flying in from SFO, since the price was about the same or less than a single room at a "higher grade" hotel. We didn't try the breakfast, but it looked very good.

What could be improved: Only downside was the noise of the streetcar and traffic when windows were open. During the warm season, you will need to open the windows as there isn't AC

  • Simple and nice place to stay – Olga from Belgium – 31 July 2024 (8/10)

The staff is really helpful and nice and were available for any questions and problems. Location is nice: walking distance to the river bank, shops, nice cafes and restaurants around. Parking is very convenient.

What could be improved: It was the funniest room I ever stayed in. I’m not a very clumsy person, but I was always hitting something in the toilet, passing between bed and the window 😂 almost falling from the small step between toilet and the room. So if you are a clumsy person or very tall, very big, this room might be too small/uncomfortable for you.
Would be nice to add mosquito nets on the windows.

  • Comfortable stay in a good location at a reasonable price. – Joanna from Poland – 22 July 2024 (9/10)

Comfortable room in a good location. Everything is very much in order.

What could be improved: If you're a sensitive sleeper, consider that the hotel has windows overlooking a street with trams. However, you couldn't hear them that much. Indeed, keeping the window open is a no-go.

  • Clean room, friendly staff. Definitely recommend for a weekend trip. – Egemen from Netherlands – 15 July 2024 (9/10)

Walkable distance to the oldtown, good breakfast and friendly staff. Definitely suitable for a weekend trip! Room was clean and fulfills all of our expectations.

What could be improved: It was a bit warm inside (There is a mobile air-condition unit). Until around midnight, you can hear the tram passing by There was earplugs in the room, but we survived without using them.

  • Super spot, highly recommended – David from Ireland – 30 June 2024 (9/10)

Great location. Fabio very helpful and friendly.

  • Superb – Svetoslav from Bulgaria – 10 June 2024 (9/10)

    Everything was perfect!

    What could be improved: Nothing
