Holiday Inn – the niu, Hub Dusseldorf Messe by IHG Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Holiday Inn – the niu, Hub Dusseldorf Messe by IHG, you immediately notice this isn’t your typical corporate hotel chain experience. The lobby has this modern, almost industrial-chic vibe that feels refreshingly different from standard Holiday Inn properties. It’s part of IHG’s newer “niu” concept, which honestly took me by surprise — the design is sleek and contemporary, with pops of color that make the space feel energetic rather than sterile. You can tell they’ve put thought into creating something that appeals to younger travelers and couples looking for something a bit more stylish than the usual three-star offerings.

Location & Getting Around

The hotel sits in Mörsenbroich, which I’ll admit isn’t exactly central Düsseldorf, but here’s the thing — it works really well if you’re visiting for trade shows or exhibitions since you’re practically next door to Messe Düsseldorf. The area is quiet and residential, perfect for couples who want to escape the city buzz (which explains why couples rate this place so highly). You’ve got private parking right at the hotel, which is actually a huge plus in Germany where parking can be both expensive and frustrating. The tram connections into the city center are decent, though you’ll want to factor in about 20-30 minutes to reach the Altstadt.

The Room Experience

The rooms follow that same modern aesthetic as the lobby — clean lines, smart use of space, and everything feels fresh and well-maintained. What I appreciated most was the attention to practical details that matter when you’re actually staying somewhere. The Wi-Fi is solid, the shower has proper water pressure, and the beds are genuinely comfortable. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re efficiently designed in a way that doesn’t feel cramped. You know what really stood out? The lighting — they’ve got it right, with options for different moods rather than just harsh overhead fluorescents.

Breakfast & Dining

Now this is where Holiday Inn – the niu, Hub Dusseldorf Messe really shines. The breakfast spread is honestly impressive for a three-star property — they’ve got continental options, Italian touches, and they actually cater to different dietary needs with vegetarian, vegan, halal, and gluten-free choices. It’s served buffet-style, but the quality is several notches above what you’d expect. I mean, you’re not going to confuse it with a five-star hotel breakfast, but it’s substantial enough that you can easily skip lunch if you’re heading out for a day of sightseeing or meetings.

Why Guests Love It

What makes this place work is that it delivers on the fundamentals while adding just enough personality to feel special. Couples particularly seem to appreciate the quieter location and the fact that it feels more boutique than corporate. The 8.2 rating reflects what you actually experience — solid service, clean and comfortable accommodations, and thoughtful touches that show someone cares about the guest experience. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, but within its category, it’s doing things right. If you’re looking for a reliable base in Düsseldorf that won’t break the bank but still feels contemporary and well-run, this hits the sweet spot.
