You know what struck me first about Hotel Arosa? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Oberkassel, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Rhine promenade – and I’m talking about the good part where locals actually hang out, not some touristy stretch. The building itself is pretty unassuming from the outside, sort of blends right into the neighborhood, but that’s actually perfect because you get this authentic Düsseldorf residential vibe without feeling like you’re staying in someone’s spare bedroom.

The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star place – clean, comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, which is rare when you’re this close to the city center. The staff actually knows the area, too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many hotels just hand you a generic tourist map. They pointed me toward this little bakery around the corner that I never would have found otherwise, and gave me the real scoop on getting into the Altstadt without dealing with the weekend crowds. The breakfast is decent – nothing Instagram-worthy, but proper German bread and coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around all morning.

Here’s the thing about staying in Oberkassel – you’re technically across the river from all the main action, but that 10-minute walk over the Rheinkniebrücke becomes part of the whole experience. Plus, you’ve got the Rheinturm right there if you want those postcard views, and honestly, some of the best restaurants in Düsseldorf are in this neighborhood anyway. The hotel gets busy during trade fair season (welcome to Düsseldorf), so book ahead if you’re coming during Messe times. Parking can be a bit tricky on the street, but there’s a garage nearby, and the front desk will sort you out with directions. It’s one of those places where the 8.1 rating makes perfect sense – not trying to be something it’s not, just doing the fundamentals really well in a spot that feels more like a neighborhood discovery than a hotel stay.

  Oberkassel is a very nice area surrounded by shops,restaurants etc… 10 mins by tram to city center. The hotel is comfortable in a quiet street,with a good selection for breakfast.
