Hotel Wurms Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Wurms on Scheurenstraße, you immediately get that feeling you’ve found something good — it’s one of those three-star places that doesn’t try too hard but gets everything right. The building has this understated charm that fits perfectly with Friedrichstadt’s character, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. I mean, when couples are rating the spot 8.8 out of 10, you know there’s something special about the neighborhood.
The Friedrichstadt Advantage
Here’s what I love about staying in this part of Düsseldorf — you’re actually in the best-rated area of the city, which isn’t just marketing speak. Friedrichstadt has this perfect balance where you can walk to the old town’s breweries and shops, but you’re not dealing with all the tourist chaos right outside your door. The tram connections are fantastic (there’s a stop practically around the corner), and you’ll find yourself exploring parts of Düsseldorf that most visitors never see. Plus, having private parking available in this area? That’s genuinely rare and incredibly useful.
Your Room Experience
The rooms at Hotel Wurms are what I’d call “thoughtfully simple” — clean lines, comfortable beds, and everything you actually need without unnecessary frills. Each room feels like someone put real thought into the layout, with decent storage space and windows that actually open (you’d be surprised how many hotels skip that detail). The bathrooms are modern enough, and the Wi-Fi works reliably throughout the building, which matters more than you might think when you’re trying to plan your day or stay connected.
Starting Your Day Right
Breakfast here is one of those pleasant surprises — they do both continental and buffet options, and the quality is honestly better than what you’d expect from a three-star property. The coffee is proper strong German coffee, not that watered-down hotel stuff, and they usually have local breads and pastries that give you a real taste of the region. I’ve noticed they’re pretty good about keeping everything fresh, even during busy periods, and the breakfast restaurant area has nice natural light that makes morning feel less rushed.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets Hotel Wurms apart is how it nails the fundamentals without any pretense. You’re staying in Düsseldorf’s top-rated district, you’ve got reliable parking when you need it, and you’re close enough to everything that matters — the Königsallee for shopping, the Altstadt for nightlife, and the Rhine promenade for those evening walks. The staff seems to genuinely know the area well, so you’ll get actual local recommendations rather than generic tourist suggestions. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere real rather than just passing through, and at this price point in this location, that’s exactly what you want.

What could be improved: Unfortunately unable to leave suitcases during the day until our (much later) onward train travelVery friendly staff – Pieter from Netherlands – 9 December 2024 (8/10)
Very friendly staff, comfortable beds. We used the parking of the hotel, which was at short walking distance of the hotel. Hotel is located at walking distance from the city centre (+/- 15 mins walk). Clean room.
Very good – Gabi from Brazil – 2 July 2024 (8/10)
Room was nice and clean. The location is great, very close to the old town and a few minutes walking to the main train station.
Very nice, clean and quiet hotel with friendly and service-minded personnel, I recommend to anyone – Denis from Norway – 28 June 2024 (8/10)
The personnel were helpful, we were greeted with all necessary information and help in our stay. The service was very good, 24/7 reception and flexibility. The hotel was very quiet and private, there was a market just a few meters from the hotel, facilities were very good and clean, standard in line with expectations.
What could be improved: The hotel lies in a rough neighborhood. There are some sights and scenes on the way to the hotel a person would like to avoid, but we didn't run into any trouble even at night. We were hoping to leave our luggage at the hotel after check-out, to enjoy the rest of our time in Dusseldorf before we headed back to the airport, but the hotel didn't offer that on that day.The hotel was well located near to Dusseldorf train station (5 minute walk) and the rooms were very clean, secure, spaci – Michael from United Kingdom – 27 June 2024 (9/10)
The hotel was well located near to Dusseldorf train station (5 minute walk) and the rooms were very clean, secure, spacious and quiet.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
This hotel is very good value for money and I would definitely stay there again if I visit Dusseldorf again.

Location and cost
What could be improved: Pillows were very flat and not really pillows, oddly shaped and not plump.Handy location for train station and not too far from old town. Staff are very nice. – Sarah from United Kingdom – 13 June 2024 (8/10)
Very clean and we were able to book last minute due to a train cancellation
What could be improved: Decor is slightly datedFamily owned hotel in a convenient location – Nana from Canada – 4 June 2024 (9/10)
The hotel was beautifully kept and very near the train station. We could walk everywhere from that location.
What could be improved: Although the location was great for convenience, it wasn't the prettiest. It was a safe area.Very good – Matthew from Switzerland – 19 April 2024 (8/10)
Really nice, family-run hotel. Old-fashioned in a very good way!
