Hotel Description

So I stumbled across Living am Carlsplatz Apartment during what was supposed to be a quick business trip to Düsseldorf, and honestly? It turned out to be one of those happy accidents that makes you feel like you actually know a city instead of just visiting it. The place sits right on Hohe Strasse in Karlstadt – and look, I know that sounds all fancy and touristy, but here’s the thing: you’re literally a two-minute walk from Carlsplatz market, which means you can grab fresh flowers and proper German bread for breakfast without dealing with hotel markup prices. The apartment itself has this lived-in quality that’s hard to fake – you know how some places try too hard to look “authentic” with staged books and fake plants? This isn’t that. The kitchen actually has sharp knives and real coffee (not those sad little packets), and the shower pressure is honestly better than what I have at home.

What really got me was how quiet it stays despite being right in the heart of things. I mean, you’re surrounded by restaurants and that whole Altstadt energy, but the windows do their job and the courtyard faces away from the main street noise. Parking was… well, it’s Düsseldorf city center, so you know what you’re getting into, but there’s a garage about three blocks away that won’t completely destroy your budget. The 8.4 rating makes sense when you consider you’re getting apartment-style space for what most hotels charge for a cramped room – plus you can actually cook something if you get tired of schnitzel every night (though honestly, why would you?). Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that awkward lobby hovering while they “prepare your room.” The owner clearly gets that travelers want to drop their bags and start exploring, especially when you’ve got the Rhine promenade just a short walk south and all those little breweries tucked into the old town streets. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra day just because it feels more like borrowing a friend’s apartment than doing the whole tourist hotel thing.

Early hotels booking in Dusseldorf is essential during major events like the Fashion Week, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned shopping scene and Japanese cultural quarter.

Reviews

  • Very comfortable, quiet and fantastic location so close to the old town and Rhein Tower. Really nice host. – Jean from United Kingdom – 27 July 2025 (9/10)

Fantastic location, really welcoming and helpful with our special requests.

Large modern comfortable apartment that was very clean with lots of kitchen essentials.

What could be improved: An eye mask was needed for the bedroom and a better curtain arrangement would make this a 10/10.

Little nervous about the tiny old fashioned lift but it did its job.
