Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Motel One Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof on Immermannstr, I wasn’t expecting much. The name “motel” had me picturing some roadside place, but this is actually a pretty slick operation right in the heart of Stadtmitte. You know what really struck me? The lobby has this sort of industrial-chic thing going on – dark wood, leather seating, mood lighting that doesn’t feel like you’re in a dentist’s office. It’s definitely trying to punch above its 3-star weight class, and honestly, it mostly succeeds.
The location is what really sells this place, though. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof, which sounds potentially awful (train station hotels can be sketchy), but the area around Immermannstr is actually pretty vibrant. There’s this whole Japanese quarter practically on your doorstep – some of the best ramen I had in Germany was at a tiny place called Naniwa, maybe three blocks away. The rooms themselves are small but smartly designed, kind of like what you’d get on a nice train, actually. Everything’s built-in and purposeful, which I appreciated after staying in some sprawling hotels where you can’t find the light switches. The beds are surprisingly comfortable for what you’re paying, and the shower pressure is solid – that’s always my test for whether a place actually cares about the details.
What really won me over was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to the old town, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward the tourist traps – he mentioned this little brewery tucked away near the Rhine where locals actually drink. The walk to Königsallee takes about ten minutes if you’re not in a rush, and you’ll pass through some genuinely charming streets that most guidebooks completely ignore. Now, I won’t lie – you can hear some street noise, especially on weekend nights when people are heading home from the bars, but it settles down by midnight. The breakfast is decent enough (I’m talking real coffee, not that hotel lobby sludge), though if you’re looking for something more authentic, there’s a Turkish bakery called Öz Urfa just around the corner that opens crazy early and has pastries that’ll ruin you for hotel breakfast forever. For what you’re paying and where you are, Motel One delivers way more than you’d expect – it’s like they took the best parts of a boutique hotel experience and stripped away all the pretentious stuff that usually comes with it.

Smart, air-conditioned and spacious room; excellent shower; very convenient location; friendly reception staff; nice breakfast
What could be improved: Being English (naturalised Irish), i would really have appreciated being able to make tea in my room but there were no facilities for this. Also the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant where you can get food in the evenings, though it is close to many Japanese restaurantsGood value, good location, clean and comfy – Bell from United Kingdom – 23 June 2025 (7/10)
Good location, comfy bed and spotlessly clean
What could be improved: No tea or coffee facilities within room, no toaster available in the dining room at breakfastExactly what we needed, minus tea, coffee and cold water! – Ryan from United Kingdom – 20 June 2025 (7/10)

Comfortable and enjoyable stay, will return – Phyllis from Netherlands – 12 May 2025 (9/10)
Great location, 5 mins walk from Hauptbahnhof (we travel by train), and a straight walk (about 25 mins) to the Altstadt. Very friendly and helpful staff, small but excellent and quiet room, large and very agreeable lounge and bar area and even a lovely garden, great place to sit outside.
What could be improved: The ventilation in the bathroom did not work, so we had to shower with the bathroom open as the mirror would take too long to clear. The airco did not do anything even if though we heard it. Maybe in hotter summer temperatures the room could get very hot and stuffy as it is only small.Very good – Philip from United Kingdom – 8 May 2025 (8/10)
Comfortable rooms and good bathrooms. Good breakfast
What could be improved: Not enough sockets in the roomGreat Place to be in Düsseldorf – Paul from United Kingdom – 2 May 2025 (9/10)
Good Location with good links to the train station and Japanese Quarter of the City.
What could be improved: Room a little on the small side, particularly if you are staying more than one night
