Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to the Premier Inn on Am Wehrhahn, I wasn’t expecting much. It’s got that typical chain hotel exterior, you know? But here’s the thing about this particular spot: the location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Düsseldorf at all. You’re right in Pempelfort, which means you can walk to the Altstadt in about fifteen minutes, but you’re not dealing with all the tourist chaos right outside your window.
The street itself is busy during the day – Am Wehrhahn is one of those main arteries that locals use to get around – but it quiets down nicely in the evenings. I was worried about traffic noise when I booked, but honestly, the windows do a decent job of keeping things peaceful. What really surprised me was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to the Rhine promenade, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the obvious route through the old town. He suggested cutting through some side streets that saved me probably ten minutes and showed me parts of the city I wouldn’t have seen otherwise.
The rooms are… well, they’re Premier Inn rooms, so you know what you’re getting – clean, functional, those purple accents everywhere. But there are little touches that made me think someone who actually stays in hotels designed this place. The shower pressure is excellent (and I mean really excellent, not just “good for a European hotel”), and there’s actually enough outlets near the bed that you don’t have to choose between charging your phone and having a bedside lamp. The breakfast room gets absolutely packed between 8 and 9 AM – I learned that the hard way on my second morning – but if you can manage to eat either earlier or after 9:30, it’s actually quite pleasant. They do a proper German breakfast spread alongside the usual English items, which I appreciated.
What really sells this place for me, though, is how it sits in the city. You’re close enough to walk to Königsallee if you’re into shopping (though honestly, window shopping is probably more realistic unless you’ve got serious money to spend), and the Kunstsammlung museum is just a few blocks away. But you’re also near actual neighborhood spots – there’s this little Turkish place around the corner that does incredible döner, and a bakery on the next street over where you can grab proper German bread for way less than you’d pay near the tourist areas.
The whole area feels like real Düsseldorf, if that makes sense. You’ll see people heading to work in the morning, families out for evening walks, that sort of thing. It’s not sanitized for tourists, which I actually found refreshing after spending time in some overly polished city centers. For a 3-star place with an 8.2 rating, it delivers exactly what it promises – just with a bit more local flavor than you might expect from a chain hotel.
Early hotels booking in Dusseldorf is essential during major events like the Fashion Week, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned shopping scene and Japanese cultural quarter.

The weekend in the city – Gitana from Lithuania – 13 July 2025 (8/10)
A location is 10-15 minutes by foot from the old town. A friendly staff.
What could be improved: A hard third temporary bed for our teenager. A shower was broken.Very good – Fatih from Turkey – 27 June 2025 (8/10)
The staff was very kind. The hotel was very close to downtown and metro station. The breakfast was ok. The rooms were ok. The parking was very convenient.
What could be improved: The room was not very clean. The kid's bed was not ready.Value for the money – Sebastian from Germany – 21 June 2025 (9/10)
Value for the money. Good location. Public transportation; restaurants; grocery stores; shops, and a public park in walking distance. Comfortable bed; safe and secured parking (€20 a day); clean room, friendly staff.
What could be improved: Vault/ safe didn't close.Comfortable accomodation at a convenient location – Mónika from Hungary – 20 June 2025 (9/10)
As Dokomi attendees, it was important to have an accomodation which is close, or conveniently connected to the Messe. This hotel is in a great location, few minutes walking distance from several public transport options, kiosks, shops, restaurants and 15 minutes walking distance to Little Tokyo.
The rooms are quiet, we did not hear any other guests during the night. Hotel staff were friendly, helpful and informative during check-in. For room cleaning / towel change, you have to let the staff know ahead, which they will inform you about as well.
What could be improved: There was no mini fridge in the room, we had to plan ahead with what food and drinks can we buy and eat during our stay.Very good – Krishna from Belgium – 14 June 2025 (8/10)
Clean, good hotel
What could be improved: Value for money, bit costlyEnjoyable and easy-going visit to Düsseldorf. – Lucifer from Finland – 13 June 2025 (8/10)
Great location for e.g. both visiting the old town and between traveling to Messe Düsseldorf. Easy to reach from the airport by S11 and walkable distance to Little Tokyo and Altstadt. The staff were charming and positive and quickly helped us with a suitcase packing emergency which was a big relief for my family member. 😄
It was a good weekend – Mohammad from Netherlands – 10 June 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: NothingOverall good n friendly sraff – Abhishek from United Kingdom – 31 March 2025 (9/10)
Everything was good including friendly staff only thing i would say the owner needs to think about that how important it is to have phones in the room there was no phone in any rooms so room service or any thing we need have to go down all the way ground floor from 4th floor which was very dissappointing
Superb – Sofia from Georgia – 28 March 2025 (9/10)
