Hotel Description
You know what’s funny about Quadenhof? I almost walked right past it the first time – it sits so quietly on Gerricusplatz that you’d think it was just another residential building in Gerresheim. But honestly, that’s part of its charm. This isn’t some flashy hotel trying to impress tourists; it’s the kind of place where you actually feel like you’re staying in a real German neighborhood instead of some generic hotel district.
The thing about Gerresheim is that most people don’t even realize it exists, which works in your favor if you’re staying here. It’s technically Düsseldorf, but it feels more like a small town that got absorbed by the city – complete with cobblestone streets and locals who’ve probably lived here their whole lives. The S-Bahn connection is actually pretty solid (about 15 minutes to the Altstadt), and you’ll save a fortune compared to staying in the city center. I mean, the rooms at Quadenhof are nothing fancy – we’re talking classic German efficiency here – but everything works exactly as it should. The beds are firm in that way Germans seem to prefer, and the windows actually open properly, which is more than I can say for a lot of places these days. What surprised me was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re still technically in a major city.
The staff here genuinely seem to care about the place, which you notice in small ways – like how they remember your coffee preference after the second morning, or how they’ll actually give you specific directions instead of just pointing vaguely toward the S-Bahn. There’s this little breakfast room that gets amazing morning light, and if you’re lucky enough to be there on a weekend, you’ll hear the church bells from the old Gerresheim basilica just down the street. It’s one of those sounds that makes you realize you’re somewhere with actual history. The neighborhood itself is perfect for evening walks – there’s a decent bakery around the corner (get there early for the best bread), and the local Gasthaus serves proper schnitzel without any tourist markup. Parking is surprisingly manageable compared to central Düsseldorf, though you’ll want to ask about the specific street regulations because German parking rules are… well, they’re German parking rules. I’d honestly recommend Quadenhof if you want to experience Düsseldorf like someone who actually lives here, rather than just passing through. It’s not going to blow you away with luxury, but it’ll give you a genuine taste of what this part of Germany feels like when you slow down enough to notice.

Amazing place to stop in Dusseldorf! – Thomas from United Kingdom – 6 January 2025 (10/10)
We liked everything! The first thing to mention is the hosts, who were absolutely fantastic – I have genuinely never received such hospitality in all of my time stopping abroad (to the point that there was various food items provided for us in the fridge on arrival!). The accommodation itself was fantastic, the house and grounds are lovely, as was the two bedroom apartment that we stopped in (it had absolutely everything we needed). The location was also great (5 mins walk from a train station that got us in to Dusseldorf City Centre in about 20 minutes). There was free, secure parking on site (something which was very beneficial to us as we drove there). I honestly could not recommend this place enough.

The medieval house in a quiet suburb of Dusseldorf, new furniture and interior items, comfortable beds in two bedrooms, spacious living room, large table in the dining room, well-equipped kitchen, full refrigerator with food and drinks. Excellent wi-fi. Fantastic accomodation and very hospitable hosts. Highest recommendations.

Exceptional – Orly from Israel – 10 October 2022 (10/10)
Perfect accommodation in a stunning place!!!
The house is a huge, and inside it they rent a large and spacious apartment with 2 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a large bathroom.
The hosts Veronika and her husband were charming and kind, they welcomed us with a smile, helped us with carrying the luggage to the apartment, Veronika agreed to do all the laundry for 5 people after a week of traveling (of course I paid her for the service) the apartment is fully equipped with towels, bed linen, the kitchen is well equipped , the fridge is full of delicacies, drinks, cheeses, sausages and every morning you get fresh bread delivered to your door.
They even take care of toothbrushes…
The hosting was perfect, the apartment is clean and cozy and the area is charming, quiet and beautiful.
There is parking and the value is completely fair for the price paid.
warmly recommended!!!
What could be improved: Nothing. Everything was perfect!!!Modern apartment in an historic house with secure private parking close to everything. – Kathy from United States – 19 September 2022 (10/10)
We stayed at 3 different locations while in Germany. If we had stayed here first, all the others would have been rated lower, it was that good. Off street gated parking, fresh rolls every morning, a fridge stocked with fresh eggs from the chickens on the property, lunch meat, cheese, and jams. All of this in a modern updated apartment in a 500 year old house in the middle of the old town. There is even an excellent restaurant right across the street. I can't say enough about this location and the hosts.
What could be improved: Nothing. Seriously.5 Sterne- Ein unvergesslicher Aufenthalt. – Voinea from Germany – 2 August 2025 (10/10)
