Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Düsseldorf’s Altstadt, and Square Rooms 8 honestly surprised me. When you first walk up to Kapuzinergasse 8, it’s tucked into this narrow cobblestone street that most tourists miss entirely – which is actually perfect because you’re literally a two-minute walk from Königsallee but without any of that shopping district chaos. The building itself has this understated entrance that I almost walked past (classic German discretion), but once you’re inside, you realize they’ve put serious thought into every detail. The lobby smells faintly of that good coffee they’re always brewing, and check-in was refreshingly quick – none of that drawn-out hotel ritual where they try to upsell you seventeen different packages.
The rooms are what got me though. I mean, the name “Square Rooms” makes it sound geometric and cold, but it’s actually the opposite – everything feels purposeful and comfortable. My room had these massive windows that let in incredible light during the day, and honestly, the soundproofing is impressive considering you’re right in the heart of the old town. You know what I loved? The bathroom actually had decent water pressure (travelers will understand why this matters), and the bed was firm enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been sleeping on a marshmallow. They’ve also got this thing where they provide local recommendations that aren’t just the obvious tourist traps – someone there clearly knows the neighborhood. I ended up at this little brewery on Berger Straße that I never would’ve found otherwise.
What really sells this place is the location knowledge the staff has. When I mentioned I needed to get to the airport early, they didn’t just call me a taxi – they explained the S-Bahn timing and which car to get on for the closest exit at the airport terminal. These are the details that matter when you’re actually traveling, not just instagramming. The whole vibe is sort of like staying at a friend’s place if your friend happened to have impeccable taste and lived in a perfectly restored building in one of Germany’s most walkable neighborhoods. Parking can be tricky (it’s the old town, what do you expect?), but they work with a garage about three blocks away, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t need your car anyway. Everything – the Rhine promenade, the best restaurants, even the train station – is walkable. I’ve recommended this place to probably six people since staying there, which tells you something about how it sticks with you.
Apartments in Dusseldorf provide travelers with an authentic local experience, allowing them to shop at traditional markets and cook with fresh ingredients from the renowned Rhineland culinary traditions.

Very sharp decor, modern, bright and tasteful.
Very clean space, comfortable and welcoming.Fabulous, comfortable, and great location. – Jenny from Australia – 13 April 2025 (10/10)
From the start, communication was quick and thorough. The apartment was well equipped and serviced daily, which was a pleasant surprise to us. The bed was comfortable. Location in the Old Town was fantastic. Quick walk to train stations for our meetings and tourist attractions, restaurants, Rhine Promenade and many more things. Mario and the Square Rooms team were very pleasant and helpful with both the apartment facilities and activity suggestions. We have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation
What could be improved: Just a heads up to those possibly less able. We were on the 3rd floor, which is 44 steps up. I am not sure but you may be able to request a lower room upon booking.Superb – Maria from Germany – 5 April 2025 (9/10)
Very clean and the owner is very nice and friendly, the bed was confortable and you will find snacks and other nice details that you cannot find in other more expensive hotels.
I loved everything ! – Galerie from France – 27 November 2024 (10/10)
So well situated, in the center of the old district. The station is very near, it was perfect !
What could be improved: I appreciate everything.Great stay in the center of Düsseldorf. Highly recommended! – Dave from Netherlands – 22 November 2024 (9/10)
Perfect spot in the center of Düsseldorf close to all shops and in our case Christmas markets. The room was perfect, clean and well equipped! Communication was excellent and responsive.
What could be improved: This is not something that could be better, but something you need to realise. It is in the centre of town, so it is buzzing till the late hours! This means that you might (in our case we did) encounter some noise (ear plugs are provided). But again that is because it is in the center of town!Excellent central location and really comfortable but be prepared for noise. – Anne from Ireland – 9 September 2024 (8/10)
Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Very central for accessing the city.
What could be improved: Very noisy at night until 4.30 a.m. all weekend. You can hear the music from the bars nearby, even with the windows closed.Superb – Lisa from United Kingdom – 29 June 2024 (9/10)
Perfect location, check in was easy, the apartment had everything we could need, appreciate the drinks, snacks and coffee. Perfect place for a stay in Dusseldorf!

The communication was good, the location was excellent. Enjoyed the personal touches such as slippers, robes, the items in the fridge and everything else in the bathroom so didn't need to go to any shops.
Superb – Paul from United Kingdom – 10 June 2024 (9/10)
