Okay, so this place is actually pretty wild when you first walk in – I mean, 300 square meters is no joke, and you really feel it the moment you step through the door. The Tolstov Apartments basically took what looks like an old industrial space on Worringer Straße and turned it into this sprawling loft that honestly feels more like a friend’s ridiculously cool apartment than a typical hotel setup. You know what struck me first? The ceilings. They’re high enough that you actually notice the acoustics change when you talk, which sounds weird but it’s kind of impressive.

The seven rooms thing is interesting because it’s not just bedrooms – there’s this flow between spaces that makes sense when you’re moving around with a group or family. I stayed there during a trade fair week (which, let’s be honest, is when Düsseldorf gets absolutely bonkers), and having that much space to spread out was a lifesaver. The kitchen area is actually functional too, not one of those hotel kitchenettes where you can barely boil water. You’re right in Stadtmitte, which means you can walk to the old town in about fifteen minutes if you take Bolkerstraße – though I’d recommend the route along the Rhine if you’re not in a rush because, well, it’s nicer. For Messe, the fifteen-minute claim is pretty accurate on the U-Bahn, though factor in a bit more time during rush hours or when there’s a big event happening.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays despite being so central. Worringer Straße has its busy moments, sure, but the loft sits back enough that you’re not hearing every tram that goes by. The whole building has this solid, substantial feel – you know how some places in old city centers can feel a bit rickety? Not here. Parking was actually manageable too, which anyone who’s driven in Düsseldorf’s center will tell you is basically a minor miracle. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me because while it’s not trying to be fancy (the three-star rating is honest), it delivers on the stuff that actually matters when you’re staying somewhere. The space, the location, the fact that you can actually live normally there instead of feeling like you’re camping in a hotel room. I mean, there are definitely more polished places in the city, but if you want something with character that doesn’t feel like every other business hotel, this hits differently. Plus, if you’re coming for Messe stuff, you’ll appreciate having room to actually work and spread out your materials instead of trying to balance everything on a tiny desk.

  Goede locatie, schoon, ruim. Aanrader voor vriendengroepen! Alles tiptop in orde.

  Wir waren als Familie da.
  Großer Vorteil ist der viele Platz. Die Austattung zB. in der Küche ist sehr gut. Die Lage ist prinzipiell ganz gut.
  
  What could be improved: Leider war die Einrichtung schon sehr lieblos und karg. Ein bisschen wie in der Jugendherberge. Störend war auch der Hall in den hohen Räumen, weil kaum Bilder, Teppiche o.ä. vorhanden waren, die denn Schall etwas geschluckt hätten. Dadurch war es nicht soooooo gemütlich. Auch die Lage im Hinterhof ist nicht wirklich idyllisch.
  Wir waren auch im Dezember da und es war RICHTIG kalt und wurde auch nicht wirklich warm – trotz voll aufgedrehter Heizung. In den Bädern im OG gab es zudem keine Heizung, so dass wir die nicht genutzt haben.
