Hotel Description

You know what? Hotel Rubin surprised me. I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to this place on Corneliusstrasse, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star in Friedrichstadt. But there’s something genuinely charming about this spot that grows on you, especially once you realize how perfectly positioned it is for exploring Düsseldorf without the tourist chaos.

The location is actually brilliant if you know the city at all. Friedrichstadt has this lovely residential vibe – you’re walking distance from the Rhine promenade, but you’re not dealing with the crowds that swarm around the Altstadt. I mean, you can easily hop on the tram and be in the old town in maybe ten minutes, or just stroll along the river when you want that classic Düsseldorf experience. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – none of that street noise you’d get closer to Königsallee or the main shopping districts. The staff seemed genuinely helpful too, not that rushed, over-caffeinated energy you sometimes get at bigger hotels. Check-in was smooth, and they actually gave me useful tips about where to grab coffee in the morning (there’s this great little bakery about two blocks over that locals frequent).

The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but honestly, that’s fine. You’re getting solid value here, which explains that 8.1 rating. The beds are actually decent, and I slept well despite being a pretty light sleeper. The bathrooms are small but functional, and the water pressure was surprisingly good. I stayed during a quieter period in fall, so I can’t speak to how it handles the summer tourist rush, but the whole place felt well-maintained and thoughtfully run. What really sold me on this place was the neighborhood feel of it all – you’re staying somewhere that feels authentically Düsseldorf rather than generic hotel-land. Plus, parking wasn’t the nightmare I expected (though I’d still recommend checking with them first if you’re driving). If you’re looking for a straightforward, honest place to stay that puts you in a real part of the city without breaking the bank, Hotel Rubin delivers exactly what it promises.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Dusseldorf at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak autumn season when the city hosts numerous fashion shows and cultural festivals.
