The building has this understated charm that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something locals have been keeping to themselves.

Here’s what I love about staying in Wittlaer — you’re technically in Düsseldorf, but it feels like a completely different world from the bustling city center. The neighborhood has this village-like quality with tree-lined streets and actual front gardens, which is pretty rare for a major German city. You can walk to the Rhine in about ten minutes, and there’s something magical about having morning coffee by the river before the day tourists arrive. The location gets an 8.7 rating from guests, and couples especially seem to fall for the peaceful atmosphere — they rated it 8.6, which makes total sense when you experience it firsthand.

Your Room and Comfort

The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star place — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged without any unnecessary frills. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the windows actually open properly, which is surprisingly rare in German hotels. You know what impressed me most? The attention to small details like having enough electrical outlets and decent lighting for reading. It’s not fancy, but everything works exactly as it should.

Breakfast Worth Waking Up For

The breakfast buffet here actually surprised me — and I mean that in the best way possible. They’ve clearly put thought into offering vegetarian and vegan options that don’t feel like afterthoughts, which is still uncommon in many German hotels. The spread isn’t enormous, but everything tastes fresh and there’s enough variety to keep you happy whether you’re there for two days or a week. I found myself looking forward to breakfast each morning, which honestly doesn’t happen often when I travel.

The free private parking alone makes this place worth considering — if you’ve ever tried to park in central Düsseldorf, you’ll understand why this is such a big deal. But beyond the practical stuff, there’s something genuinely relaxing about this place that’s hard to quantify. Maybe it’s the quiet location, or the fact that the staff seems to actually care about your stay rather than just going through the motions. The 8.3 overall rating reflects what I experienced — it’s not perfect, but it gets the important things right and creates an atmosphere where you can actually unwind after exploring the city.

  Great location close to rail connection to Messe. Staff very helpful. Room very comfortable. We booked the cheapest room and the wifi didn’t work in the room but the host offered that we could connect in the communal area. In the end we were able to use our 5G connection as we needed to connect for hosting a webinar.

  I felt like I was at home during my stay at Hotel Villa Verde! The staff was always smiling and attentive, making the experience comfortable and welcoming. The location is excellent, very close to the station, which makes it easy to get around. The breakfast was wonderful and complete, with a great variety of options to suit all tastes. The only note is that breakfast wasn’t complimentary—I paid for it when I checked out.

  The breakfest could be better, I mean I was missing some hot sossages. Other than this it is nice hotel, very calm, close to the airport or fairs, you can get there by U-bahn. Good restaurant near by.

  We stayed here for 1 night. The rom was fine, shower powerful and we had a little alcove with a dinning table, room 1. The breakfast was very good. Plenty of choice for breakfast.
  Bed is very comfortable too!
  The restaurant on the corner a 5 min walk has amazing food but a grumpy lady running it! But go for the food!

  Just a couple of minutes of the Rhine cycle path. Excellent bike storage. Small hotel run by a lovely lady who recommended an excellent nearby restaurant. Fabulous organic breakfast. Comfortable room with kettle for making hot drinks.
