Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Landhaus Hamm? It’s this charming little surprise tucked away on Blasiusstraße that feels more like stumbling into someone’s stylish home than checking into a typical hotel. I mean, the name says “boutique” but honestly, it delivers on that promise in ways that actually matter – not just fancy soap dispensers and overpriced minibar snacks.

The location is pretty clever, actually. You’re in Hamm, which most tourists completely overlook, but it’s one of those neighborhoods where real Düsseldorf life happens. There’s this great bakery maybe two blocks over where locals grab their morning brötchen, and you can walk to the Rhine in about fifteen minutes if you want to escape the city buzz for a bit. The U-Bahn connection is solid too – I think it’s about a ten-minute ride to get into the heart of the Altstadt when you want to do the tourist thing. Parking can be a bit tricky on the street (like everywhere in Düsseldorf), but they’ve got options worked out.

What really sets this place apart is how they’ve nailed that balance between character and comfort. The rooms have this understated elegance – think clean lines mixed with just enough personality that you don’t feel like you’re sleeping in a catalog. The bed situation is legitimately good, which matters more than people admit when they’re choosing hotels. Staff genuinely seems to care about what they’re doing, not just going through the motions. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, and they actually had useful recommendations when I asked about dinner spots that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps. The whole operation feels intentional, if that makes sense – like someone put real thought into how travelers actually want to experience a city. It’s got that 8.5 rating for good reason, honestly. Sure, it’s a 3-star property, so don’t expect a spa or room service at midnight, but for exploring Düsseldorf while staying somewhere with genuine character? It hits that sweet spot between authentic local experience and having everything you actually need.

Best host I had in a long time! We had breakfast and it was made with love and attention to detail and my friend even received gluten free bread! 20 min walk to the Harbour and a tram right around the corner! I will definitely stay there again when I visit Düsseldorf.

  • Exceptional – Julia from Estonia – 8 December 2024 (10/10)

It was our first travel with our baby, so we were quite stressed. Everything went very smoothly – the room was big, with a crib, warm, quiet. The beds were comfortable. We could keep baby milk in the fridge. Internet worked well. The location was a plus – the hotel is located in a neighborhood that looked quiet and safe, the parking had lots of room (12 euro extra). The tram stop to go to the center was in less than 5 minutes by foot, and then it's about 15 minutes by tram. The tram tickets can be bought in the tram itself (there is a ticket machine there), or later I discovered a public transport application in English, with plenty of ticket options, we took a 24-hour option.
The breakfast is served during weekends, but we preferred to eat in the center. There is a boulangerie in 50 meters (we didn't go there, for the next time!), and a local restaurant in 200 meters (good traditional food, but closed on Sundays).
We liked Dusseldorf a lot and would like to come back.

What could be improved: We liked everything, but a water boiler would be great to drink a hot tea after a long day.

  • Superb value for money, good location and very friendly staff – Olga from Germany – 3 November 2024 (10/10)

Superb location, very near to the port (Hafen), very lively and modern part of Düsseldorf. Value for money and available parking!

What could be improved: Bed could be more comfortable but overall the hotel is very nice.

  • A nice quiet stay for a good value of money – Sarah from Egypt – 2 November 2024 (10/10)

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Lovely hotel in a lovely neighbourhood – Andac from Turkey – 31 October 2024 (10/10)

The hotel building, the rooms and the neighbourhood was like out of a movie scene. The owner Peter was very welcoming and nice.
